Implying DeVito playing better than Daniel Jones with the same OL and WR's people were critical of to start the season. Also that Jones contract shouldn't give Jones the job back automatically.

Ed Vette

"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Yep - the cat is completely out of the bag on Jones. This was frankly the case even when it was just Tyrod playing. He looked no worse than Jones despite making 1/8th the money. That was already problematic right there. DeVito has just taken it to an even more obvious level.

Fans who still couldn't see Jones for what he was up until his ACL injury have now had reality force-fed to them. It's in plain view for everyone to see now. The only thing keeping him on the team next year is his unmovable albatross of a contract.

I am sure none of this is pleasant for Jones. The nice thing for him at least is that he still has a guaranteed $81mm coming to him despite never being being a consistently good NFL QB. Unfortunately, while nice for him, that's not so nice for everyone else, but it is what it is.

Of course, the talking heads will always look for something to tickle the fickle and rash among the locals at least as it is hardly of national interest. Still as a Giants fan, such a modest comparison should hardly be a bother.

He's not a legend yet; he's not yet even the Giants version of Jeremy Lin at this eye blink time. Still, Tommy De Vito is having fun and so should we.

Cheers!

Jones' Giant fate was sealed when he had the Microsoft Surface tossed at him.

That never happened.

Good assessment. The best thing was being able to evaluate Jones based upon what backup QBs could do.

Personally, I am looking forward to seeing Devito throw to Waller and see how he helps the kid. Hopefully sooner than later.

Who does Waller replace for most of his snaps?  What's the ripple effect on the offense?

I think Waller is very talented but keeping him in as an extra blocker doesn't play to his strength and DeVito went from taking sacks to being a running QB.  Does Waller fit well with the system used against Green Bay?  Maybe it's a different system with Waller and a better one for DeVito and we won't know until he takes the field.  I don't think Waller and offensive system changes he brought complemented the Jones/Barkley system from last year that paired so well with the defense.  It's why I have mixed expectations.

The Giants don't win these games with Jones at QB.  I don't think the reasons really matter at this point.  Even the pass to Wan'Dale on the winning drive I don't think Jones makes.

Or the TD pass to Hodgins. Both were made on the run and he hit the bull's eye both times.

It wasn't tossed "at" him but it was tossed because of him.

A big difference don't you think? If someone spikes a tablet because he's angry with me, oh well. Someone throws a tablet at me in anger there's going to be problems boss or not. One is a crime, the other isn't.

If you're just looking at the act itself and the statement, yes, there's a difference. But his point was that Daboll had had enough of Jones with that pick-6 versus Seattle and the tablet toss let everyone know.

The reality is, the Giants offense looked sharper as soon as Tyrod Taylor stepped in. Now, DeVito is continuing that. From an outsider's view such as Shannon Sharpe, and anyone really outside of the Giants bubble, Jones shortcomings are very obvious. All the talk now is of DeVito's flamboyant agent. Really Jones's agent should win agent of the year for getting him a contract, based on a mirage of a season. Kudos to him and I'm happy for Jones who, unless he is swindled or has addiction problems, should never have financial worries.
