We're at the point now where either the seeds sprout, or they don't.

For years, and certainly as Schoen's taken over, the Giants have been one of the youngest teams in the league:

RB - Drafted Gray (25) and Tracy (25) last 2 years. Are they players or do they suck? RB depth will be needed to do anything meaningful.
WR - If Nabers (21) and Hyatt (23) pop, and Robinson (23) keeps going, they could have one of the best trios in the league. If they don't, the worst.
TE - Bellinger (24) & Theo Johnson (23) are the potential difference makers. How good are they?
OL - The performance of the group swings on Schmitz (25) and Neal (24). 2 premium investments.
CB - Banks (23), Flott (23), Robinson (26), Phillips (23) & Hawkins (24) are 5 planted seeds. This could sprout into a great situation or completely suck.
S - Investments made in Nubin (23), Pinnock (25), Belton (24) & Owens (25). Solid 4-man group or a weakness?

Almost every position group hinges on how these youngsters (acquired by Schoen) come around. We could get a bumper crop, or starve to death.

Big Blue Huddle / Rule 51 ? Are we in trouble?
Last post by brownelvis54 - Today at 09:36:20 PM
I am confused about "The Rule of 51″

"The Rule of 51″
The NFL's Rule of 51 says that during the offseason, only the 51 most expensive contracts count against the team's salary cap, staying in effect until the start of the regular season. Once the regular season begins, all 53 players on the roster will count towards the salary cap, plus those on IR, Pup, and the practice squad.

https://en.as.com/nfl/2024-nfl-free-agency-the-salary-cap-explained-n/#:~:text=The%20NFL%27s%20Rule%20of%2051,start%20of%20the%20regular%20season.

According to the video, starts about the 5 minute mark, but the whole video is interesting. Basically money wise we are screwed. 17 players dead cap and if rule 51 expired we will be 14 - 18 million short? Is this guy correct?

Our QB room looks pretty bleak

Jones: two neck surgeries and an ACL

Drew Lock who couldnt beat out Teddy Bridgwater and Gino Smith (twice)

Cutlets, enough said

And to add insult to injury the nba just announced with their 2 minute report that maxey's 4 point play should not have counted as he walked before the foul and shot. What a collossal screw up by the refs!!  :boooo:  :boooo: Where do the Knicks go to get their win they got robbed out of back?

Quote from: PSUBeirut on April 29, 2024, 10:13:24 AMHe absolutely needs to show more fire and passion.  I definitely question whether Daboll and Schoen really need to send that message through the media, though.  If they feel they need to do it that way they're pretty shitty leaders and have been way too soft on DJ.  It's time to suck it up and perform or go home, simple as that.

I'm afraid I have to agree with this. It's kind of hard to show fire and passion after getting the daylights beaten out of you, game after game, and then have your knee shredded like southern BBQ.

But, maybe some QBs get fired up over that stuff; heck, I don't know! But, if they do, I can promise them, when they reach my age, they'll be popping and clinking around with their replacement knees and their hips on borrowed time ... take it to the bank!

Hoorah ... hips replaced tomorrow, my brain the following week ... I feel just as great as just before that first ACL tear ... I'm a rarin' to go!!!

Let's have a reality check on the fire lighting, unless you've brought the marshmallows!!

Peace!

That was disastrous last night. One gaffe after another. The worst for me was not fouling the Sixers when we were up by three with about 10 seconds left. Foul Maxey, put him on the line, and then get fouled yourself on the inbound and take two shots with a chance to be up by a minimum of four points with just a few seconds left on the clock. I can't fathom how you can allow a three point attempt in that situation.

I don't know about anyone else but I expect a good portion of our players on defense to breakout this season.

Guys like Flott, Banks, Thibs, Bobby OK, Pinnock etc simply from having a traditional defense, that caters to their strengths, and isn't overly complex.

I think teams have made the mistake of trying him everywhere instead of sticking him somewhere permanently.

Yeah I know, but I still didn't know why all the words fit. I haven't played the game in at least three decades so my memory of it is foggy.
