I'm not excited.  I'm not sure he can make the final roster.  The Giants should and will bring Steve Smith back, and unless they are willing to write off Ramses BArden completely that makes this kid the 5th WR.  He's so tiny he's not likely to impact the coverages teams so unless he's a dynamic return man...how does he make this team?

Still no LBs though.  I get the pick, he was way too much value to pass up at that spot, but at the same time they still have pretty big holes at OL and LB and there were plenty of OLs at that spot that were more than worthy of the pick.  Castonzo in particular seemed like a steal at 19.  Maybe not as big of a steal as Prince, but also at a position of much more need than CB.  Prince seems like a good player so we'll see, but I'd have gone with an OL there.

It really depends on if you believe what he says or not.  He claims that he used HGH once, while injured, in an effort to get back on the field as soon as possible.  Obviously that could be a bold faced lie, but given the guy I've seen and heard form over the past 15 years I tend to think of him as anything but a liar.  I also think he may well not have known about Clemens use.  Obviously Roger did get up early and have some insane workouts, that much has been documented plenty of times.  He fooled the rest of the American public, why not a teammate as well?  The way I see it, Pettitte is doing nothing more than telling the truth.  I certainly wouldn't ask him to lie to the authorities to protect a XXXXX like Clemens.  All indications are that he's a stand up guy that made one mistake one time and never did it again. That I can forgive.  Clemens, Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro and the like I cannot forgive.

One of the greatest Yankee pitchers ever.  He absolutely could have played another year or two if he wanted to but I can't blame him for leaving.  Maybe if Cliff Lee had picked the Bronx and the Yanks were World Series favorites he could have found that "hunger" but as things stand they weren't going to win the whole thing with or without him. I grew up watching him pitch.  He was my first real "favorite" pitcher.  I'm certainly going to miss him now that he's gone.  Its too bad he got caught up in that HGH scandal because the argument of his Hall of Fame status, along with Mike Mussina for that matter, would have been one of the great ones.  Won't be the same without the big guy out there next year.

If given the choice between letting Witten beat them underneath or Owens/Austin beat them over the top, I think the Giants would and should prefer to let Witten be the guy.  Of course, it didn't always work out that way but they always had more success if they kept those WRs in check.  It didn't help that they haven't had a guy on the team capable of covering those type of players 1 on 1 until Boley and even he was hurt for much of the season.  Hopefully he stays healthy this year and when we pull  a LB off the field in Nickel and Dime sets he gets the call to cover the Wittens and Cooleys of the world.  I think he is very capable of doing the job about as well as anybody can cover a couple of Pro Bowlers.

I would imagine Spikes goes off the board in the 2nd round at some point and the Giants could certainly do worse than him with their pick in the 2nd round.  But I still am holding out hope against hope they can land McClain.  Seems Ceri doesn't share the same enthusiasm that I do for that young man but to me he's head and shoulders above the rest.  To the point that if a trade up to get him is necessary so be it.  Just watching him play he seemed like he was always one of the 2 or 3 best players in the game each and every week.  Playing in the SEC that's not easy task.  I imagine he can step in from Day 1, take over the MLB, and never look back.  Not sure I can say that about any of the other MLBs in the draft.  Spikes might come the closest though.

And JUCO or not, I'd take Brandon Graham over Pierre-Paul in a heartbeat regardless of how many backflips the dude can do.  They said Elvis Dumervil was too small too and all he did was lead the league in sacks after dominating his conference.  I'll always take the guy who dominated his conference over the guy who looks great at the combine.  George Selvie looked just as good as Pierre-Paul over his career, if not better, and they played on the same team.

Thanks as always Ceri. Based on that write up it seems like Pierre-Paul would be a tremendous mistake.  A guy with little to no production on the field but wowed at the combine.  Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.  Dunlap is intriguing as a 2nd rounder if he lasts that long.  Seems like he might be a nice fit and at 47 I think he'd be an absolute steal.  Wouldn't think about him at 15 though.  With or without an Osi trade I wouldn't be too shocked if they picked a DE.  We've seen them do it before with the Kiwi pick afterall.

I cannot express in words how this news makes me feel. This is just tragic and terrible.  He was a great contributor to this board and just an overall intelligent fan.  He will be missed.  RIP Bedl365
