Dumpster Dan

I just went through major surgery--replacing my pacemaker so I can still live.

I have FIVE great grandchildren born within the last year

I have a granddaughter whose boyfriend is a para ranger who is on standby awaiting orders to head to the middle East any minute now

I have a son who was just hired as a consultant by the largest land developer on the East Coast

I have another son who was recently hired as a family therapist by the largest company in that field in the United States---that same son just came back from a six month assignment hired by the US Government to treat kids who are in desperate need of counseling because their Dads have been off on their FOURTH  deployment to points unknown because they are fighting terrorism

I have a granddaughter and her husband who are professors at one of the great educational institutions in the United States, The US Military Academy, preparing future leaders of our country and  security who will protect us

I have a wife of 66 plus years who STILL loves me as she schedules meals and appointments around the playing schedule of a freakin sports team that owns me

I have a grandson who cares so much about me that he just drove 25 miles to see me and make sure that I am alright and that I havent upset my pacemaker and to give me a hug and tell me everything is going to be OK

And what do I do?  I IMMEDIATELY last Monday when I woke up in the recovery room in a hospital check the internet for news about injuries to players on the New York Football Giants.  WHAT???  Get your priorities in order Dumpster Dan

You sit by the computer waiting with bated breath for news  that will encourage you again to sit and watch or follow a bunch of freakin babies--who have quit on me--

They run around a football field   so undisciplined and out of control that a team  with a rookie QB, new Coach etc etc that has NOT scored more that 19 points in any of seven previous games put up 30 on them

The team I root for has the nerve or the stupidity to put a QB on the field football who cant throw a football as far as this 92 year old with a dead arm!!

THis coaching staff is so smart that the first chance they get they tell their QB who just came off three games of inactivity because of a NECK injury to rum a QB sneak--They should be fined for their gross negligence

The OL that I so desperately wanted good news on who might be back to play for us allowed EIGHT sacks--

I know that I am preaching to the choir--

God help all of us!!!

As far as the 8 sacks go, I'd say the majority were on the QB.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

Dan,

I'd trade watching all of our Super Bowls if it guarantees that I'd get to live long enough to see my grandchildren and great grandchildren prosper. It sounds like you have a lovely family, so rest up my friend. Spend the time otherwise wasted watching this years version of Big Blue with your family.

Like you Dan, I too am blessed with a loving, caring family: a wife, 2 daughters, 2 sons, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Whether for that, or for some other reason, I chose to give myself a gift today which consisted of remaining deliberately unaware and ignorant of the outcome- final score only- of today's game until late this evening. Consequently, whether or not I may have something to say about it tomorrow, tonight I feel quite liberated.

Cheers!

Jaime

Rest up Dan. Believe or not, better days are ahead. :Chestram:

Rejoice, my respected elders, if you read this short note today. For you have survived any ill effect from the Giants going bankrupt in Vegas.

Perhaps we should remind the men in charge of a simple Kenny Rogers' tune:

Know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run

Perhaps sending John Mara a reminder to bring his running shoes next time would save many of us the headache.

But let the youngsters bear that pain on your behalf. You deserve the very best that life has to offer.

In closing, use that heart of yours on your beautiful families you have been blessed abundantly with. For that is your primary mission going forward.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

To Dan, Larry and all of the other crotchety old men who visit here:

Despite being just a few years younger, I can relate, and at this point, unfortunately, I can only offer the following consolation, although it is seasonally apt, IMO:

"God bless us, every one."

Bob

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Thank you, Chris and Bob and all the other genuinely good people of BBH/BBWC who have welcomed, inspired, tolerated, consoled, and have been a blessing for me all these years.

Cheers!

Jolly Blue Giant

Sounds like you have an amazing and successful family, DD, while being surrounded with genuine love. If the Giants never win another game in the next decade, you sir have been blessed beyond measure. Better days are ahead, but probably not this season. You are no fool, but do take care of yourself and manage your heart
The joke I told yesterday was so funny that,
apparently, HR wants to hear it tomorrow

Dan, Larry, Bob and other assorted grey beards who have seen a lot more bad football than good football from this team over all these generations.
While age wise I am not in Dan's or Larry's class I am up there.
Anyway and Dan I can almost top you. I am on a cruise ship in the right square middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I had the ability to watch yesterday's game on a German feed of the game with German announcers et al. Lucky I had to watch it in my cabin as I would have been too embarrassed to view it with a crowd. What a complete waste of good time that could have been put to much better use.
Glad you are ok Dan.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

My only criticism is you don't post enough, Dan.  I always enjoy reading yours, Larry, Bob, Lenn, and Giant Jim posts. It's your history/knowledge that truly makes this place unique.

If we can't laugh, we're doomed  :D
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

And of course, none of what has been said should in any way minimizes the foundation provided to us by Rich and Ed and the Mod Team.

Cheers!

Lenny: Stop lying. You're older than my mom and she's 102. lol

Dan,
Good to hear you are well and enjoying the basic blessings. You and I had discussions before the debacle became too obvious, and now it is worse than we imagined; good news is that the suspense is over for this season. I already licked my wounds for this year's wager losses that I unwisely did through too much optimism, so I can now shut it down and give my attention to more pleasurable thoughts and activities.
Please don't let the ineptness of our team bother you more than this and concentrate on your health and joy.
