Nice to see Jones looks so good with no pass rush in his face LOL :boooo:

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Devito takes a stand

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 22, 2024, 09:03:44 PMDevito played in the ACC and the Big10 conference, if he was a better qb he would have been drafted. After the 2022 draft teams were trying to find their Brock Purdy considering 66 qbs started in 2023 its understandable. Given all that Devito still wasn't drafted while 14 qbs were. If he had undeniable talent, he would have been found. We signed a guy from west Florida University, if there's talent they are found.

FYI Illinois and Syracuse aren't small programs, he had an opportunity most don't get so I have no sympathy.

He did very well at Syracuse and Illinois.....big time programs
By contrast Jones was a big time loser at small time Duke

Where are we here, in a hall of mirrors?  DeVito is better than the robotic Jones by a country mile

The delta is that Jones is now Mara's very expensive adopted sun

It seems the Giants will let DeVito float and lost to waivers....he will wind up in NE as the next Tom Brady   My prediction

Jones has been touched by the hand of Mara.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 20, 2024, 08:54:49 PMThat's funny, since with better personnel (Thomas and Pugh) they gave up a higher percentage of sacks when he was under center than they did when DJ was under center.

Sacks aside they seemed to be more in synch for DeVito (and Tyrod Taylor),that's what I meant

The not so slippery Daniel Jones seemed constantly running for his life

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on May 21, 2024, 12:35:33 PMJustin Pugh did not represent an improvement in personnel. He was terrible on the field, despite his likeable personality. He had a 41.6 PFF grade (compared to 42.4 for Ezeudu who's been a complete disaster).

Pugh was on the couch, played 12 terrible games for the Giants, and is back on the couch where he belongs

I don't know.  Did Pugh retire
Last I heard he intended to bulk up and get ready to rumble in 2024

Guy loves the Giants team and was a coach on the field.  A great confidence boost to an online that looked lost

My sons best friend was a neighbor of Pugh's growing up and had nothing but great things to say about Justin Pugh

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 21, 2024, 08:44:16 AMI am of two mindsets on Miller.

1)  I like his measurables and his back story.

2)  I am mindful that between the college portal and general college scouting, if he had a natural talent, he would have been playing for a big program sooner than he did.  Admittedly, there is some uncertainty here, but you would think his backstory would have included turning down scholarship offers at some point.

Hope your feeling better Rich

I don't know, he certainly had a very different backstory and college career
Maybe he will be another Tommy DeVito story- who also had a cirtuitous college career.

Quote from: PSUBeirut on May 21, 2024, 08:20:22 AMMe let it go?  Done.  I wish the guy nothing but the best- he deserves it, for sure.  But you mention him in almost every RB post you make.  So....  maybe it's time to let it go?  Also- your track record of opinions here makes it supremely likely you're wrong about Barkley, so I feel good about being on the other side of you on it.  Feels right.   :ok:

Obviously you are a big Penn State guy and support your guy. Best of luck to Saquon.

I for one am supremely happy we will now face Saquon and not his former running mate at Penn State when the Eagles are on the field.   He is back home in PA.

As for my views, they are my opinions that's all.

Some things the Giants do are baffling to me.  I hope with Saquon gone, and the upgrade of the WRs that we move to a more wide open unpredictable offense.  Lets see where this goes

I like them

Somehow they still look modern and yet harken back to the 20's and 30's

Quote from: PSUBeirut on May 20, 2024, 06:54:01 PMYeah with that top 5 RB out of the way, finally we can see what those guys on the bench look like.   =))

I am rooting hard for this kid for lots of reasons- one being he's local to me here in NC and played HS ball in a district I taught in briefly.

I just had a look at the top 20 RBs on PFF.  The Gold Jacket Guy was not on the list.
PFF.com

I believe he did make the list of top 5 dropped outlet pass receivers LOL.  The most likely to not break initial contact also.

Let it go man.  He was great.......at Penn State.

I hope the Eagles have him in there all day long.  Will make our job so much easier.
I do have to admit this was a very un-Eagle like move.    What were they thinking?

I hope he becomes the face of the franchise

They seemed a lot better blocking for Tommy D

Perhaps they raise their game a bit for a decent QB......not a guy afraid to let the ball fly

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 20, 2024, 04:50:06 PMIf a 25 year old rookie running back from an ivy league school and who nobody heard of until a month or two ago makes good in the NFL, it would be a hell of a story, and also one that I'm fairly sure has never happened before, or at least probably not any time in the last 60-70 years.

There's a first time for everything, and it's always fun to root for these underdog/longer shot type guys like Platzgummer, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Elerson Smith, etc. We'll see what happens. It would be fun to see him somehow make an impact, but I'm not sure I view that as base case.

Lets see what he can do

With the gold jacket guy gone now, we can finally get a sustained look at other RBs

Speed kills as they say and 4.27 is incredible for a RB.....outragious considering he is a stout built short guy    Sounds like a Tyreek Hill clone physically.  Lets give him a good look
#13
he didn't delay/dominate the position for 5 years

Yes its almost incomprehensible that Bill did not land in another place but who knows

I think the Patriots will falter for a bit until they realize Joe Judge is available to move up to HC.....LOL. NOT!!

Patriot's should have brought Mike Vrable back to be their HC in my opinion but lets see

Although very preliminary and early in the process,  I'm going to venture 10-6 and the NFC East crown

All the NFC East teams are capable of that same result though.  Its always a horserace in our division.

We finally solved Philly last year, now have to tame Dallas.  WFT is an enigma
