Barkley hasn't played since 2020, but it was in Buffalo. I actually don't mind him (albeit I appreciate he has never done much in the NFL).
Book stinks, and I say that as an ND fan. He was a solid college QB but is not cut out for the NFL, especially behind a line like ours. He's a panicky player who bolts from the pocket too quickly and isn't athletic enough for that to be a good idea nor is he good at throwing on the run.
I agree with Mad that this is ominous though. Kind of points in the direction that they don't see Jones coming back anytime imminently and they want to get another arm on the PS in case Taylor or DeVito gets hurt. If they thought Jones was only going to miss a max of one more game, I don't see what the point of this would be.
