What are we watching these days?

Over the past few years, my wife and I watch any number of shows about 'how America' was built, how Foods built America, how cars built America, Mega companies built America and now a new series has premiered, How Disney Built Ameria. There are probably others along the way, but we are facianted by some of these shows which tell us how certain companies got started, how certain name brand foods got started and built up a mass market etc. etc.

So on to Disney. As a child we grew up with Disney, we watched Mickey, we watched the Mickey Mouse Club. we had those stupid 'ears' and we also made the trek to Disneyworld (Florida). We still love the 'older' animated movies where Disney just had something special.

anyway, this new series How Disney Made America

is very good. It really goes into detail about how he started his studio, what he had to go thru to get the first animated movie Snow White onto the screen now he has just completed Disneyland, and how he got the financing to make this happen. If anyone enjoys ser ies like these, it is an excellent watch.

I've been watching this series. It's very good. Walt was a genius and could see what he thought he could do, and he proved the doubters wrong time and again. I found it amazing that his brother Roy was always negative but in the end always ending up being a great help.

I watched the 4th episode of the Disney story. Again I found it to be very interesting. A couple of "Wow I didn't know that!" things. I hope you're still watching Lenn.

For anyone who hasn't seen it but may some day I would recommend you watch episode 4 before episode 3.

 I did see it Bill and like you, WOW, I didn't know that. And, like you, we wondered why they put last week's episode before this one as the timeline would have been better.

PS-- mI used to have one of those Mickey watches. Wish I still did.

Just watched "The Blue Angels"  A documentary on prime video. Very good. Lots of detail information about a year with the Blue Angels. Incredible flying scenes.

I started "Ripley" on Netflix earlier this week. I am really enjoying it so far. A few comments:

(1) It is, as I am sure most know, based on the same novel by Patricia Highsmith that the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley" is based on. The storyline is more or less the same in a broad sense.

(2) The characters are mostly the same people, but they are portrayed very differently than they are in the movie. The "Marge" character for example, played by Dakota Fanning, is a completely different take on the character than Gwyneth Paltrow's character. The Dickie character is also different in some ways.

(3) The show is in black and white, which for some is a negative. I don't see it that way, myself. Not only does it not bother me, but I actually think it is effective in making the 1950s time backdrop seem more authentic. I said this to my wife, and I'll say it here: if Netflix gave you the option of watching it in color or black and white, I'm not sure I'd pick the color option having now watched a few episodes in black and white.

(4) If you're someone who needs constant, face-paced, intense action, I would not recommend this show. There are some intense scenes, but it is on the slow, brooding side. It has more of a foreboding, macabre feel.

(5) The cinematography in this show is not just very good; it is exceptional. If you are someone who appreciates fine cinematography, I strongly recommend this show. I have been blown away by how good it is.

(6) Overall I am really enjoying the show. It is different from the movie, but still very good.
