as someone not too familiar with his game, I am thinking worst case scenario where we draft an WR round 1 and just roll with Locke (obviously Jones is nnot playing bc of the injury clause).

Can he get us to the playoffs? No Saquon and adding locke and some WR doesn't exactly inspire promise, but the addition of Brian Burns makes this one fo the most formidable defenses in the game.

Looking more and more likely we will end up cutting Jokes so his contract cap is split for 2 years. Good riddance!!

A qb comp between Drake Maye and Lock is a dream come true.

Big Blue Huddle / Tyrod Taylor headed to the Jets

fantastic signing for the Jets. Woud have made the playoffs had Tyrod been our QB from week 1, and same with the Jets. He's a great player and it's too bad our best are going to rivals constantly.

salary cap.

We just made Burns the 2nd highest paid pass rusher in league.. the assumption is we will also pay Kayvon. We are also paying Dex and Thomas massive amounts of cash. It is virtually impossible to sign Kayvo given Jones's contract unless we cut him.

What is the best contract in all of sports? The rookie QB contract.

The Burns trade solidifies we are not in rebuild mode, but going for the playoffs as soon as next year. I expect us to go QB round 1 by trading our 2nd and future 2nd  and skill position players rest of draft.

Good move. We aren't drafting Oline in the draft now. No more excuses Daniel.

Big Blue Huddle / Grade Joe Schoen's offseason
March 11, 2024, 04:16:50 PM
- Let Barkley walk for nothing

- Let Xavier walk for nothing

- Signed a below average RB for 3 years 15 MILLION!!!!!!!!

- Overpaid for an average Oline

Meanwhile we are stuck with his abominable Waller contract, no safety, the worst starting QB contract in the league,

Schoen has not improved this team 1% since taking over after Gettleman's mess. He has missed over and over and over again (Parris Cambell, Mark Glowinski, , and now we are once again on our way to full rebuild. Why did we not start this during the season? I sense 4-13 year with him throwing the Genius Brian Daboll under the bus to save his ass.

HE GETS AN F+ FOR ME. Total disaster.

Nine-time Pro-Bowl QB and former Super-Bowl champ Russell Wilson plans to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per league sources. Wilson will sign a team-friendly, one-year deal in which the Broncos will wind up paying $38 million of his salary while Wilson wears the black and yellow.

---

This confirms to me we will be trading up for a QB or *sigh taking JJ At 6.

I am not referring to the players, just the situation itself.

From the reporting we are actively looking to trade up and/or sign Russell Wilson too meaning Jones would be CUT before the season starts after JUST signing him to a long term deal where he is one of highest paid players in the NFL.

Pretty much everyone knew outside of some Giant fans this was a huge mistake, but who is to blame?

has it been reported how much influence Mara had on this? Or was this a purely Schoen decision? I have to think Daboll who has begrudgingly talked about Jones was not a major driving force behind the decision.

People say if the Giants have a poor year to fire Daboll and not Schoen.. whereas I see it the opposite. Daboll can only do so much with limited resources,

Daniel Jeremiah apparently heard the same thing

if so... why haven't we made the deal yet? That's an EASY deal to take Drake or Daniels.

Big Blue Huddle / FA QB discussion
February 26, 2024, 11:41:42 PM
Obviously DJ is not the answer and nearly the entire fanbase knows it.

Assuming we don't draft a QB, who would you like to see the Giants get in FA at QB?

I'd love.. Sam D'arnold. think he has a big chip on his shoulder, learned a lot in SF, and frankly is a better player than Daniel Jones when given the right tutelage.

Let's say they just can't get a good deal to move up and don't even take a QB in the draft, and get a Tyrod Taylor type instead...

with Daniel Jones starting, adding another WR, and whatever.. I say this team has a ceiling of maybe 7 wins. Anything in the 3-4 game win range next season warrants the firing of both of them in my opinion.

Being generous in this scenario (4 wins), I'd fire Schoen for bad mismanagement of draft picks and contracts, and give Daboll one last shot with his QB next year given he's a "QB whisperer".

However obviously 3-4 wins with a rookie QB buys them another season at least for obvious reasins, hence why it's critical for their job safety they can get the right QB NOW.

What say you?

Big Blue Huddle / Drake Maye thread
February 24, 2024, 05:37:43 AM
I personally see Caleb going first, Daniels after, and if the Pats go MHJ we have an opportunity to trade up for Drake.

This thread is for the true francihse QB of the Giants, Daniels to me is too injury prone and Caleb is going first. All 3 have potential to be francihse QB's, and I'm setting the intention we will draft him.

Big Blue Huddle / Misc discussion about Daniel Jones
February 20, 2024, 04:07:55 PM
Quote from: uconnjack8 on February 20, 2024, 08:10:21 AMWhere did you see that he was responsible for 32% of his sacks?  I haven't seen that one ( I don't subscribe to PFF).  If you are referring to the percent of pressures that turned into sacks, I think you are misinterpreting that stat.

1. Tommy DeVito (37% of pressures turned into sacks)
2. Daniel Jones (32%)
3. Ryan Tannehill (30%)
4. Bryce Young (25%)
5. Zach Wilson (24%)

meanwhile Tyrod was middle of the pack with the same oline.

While our o-line is bad, the bottom line is our QB play is even worse and most of it is because of their talent and lack thereof involving pressures...

I call for keeping Saquon on a 3 year to help our rookie QB develop and starting from scratch.
