I haven't watched...BUT our damn scouts better be dissecting each game and player.

We need upgraded talent across the board.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 12, 2024, 05:19:50 PMSeems like an awful lot of anxiety here about a team that is currently number one in the league in points and wins.

ONE CUP in 83 years, we are well past anxiety.

The Presidents Cup...nice, but who rally gives a damn.

THE CUP is the goal from the first day of training camp.

Total lethargy in Game 80 at home kind of breeds anxiety.

now for some FANTASTIC NEWS

Filip Chytil has been medically cleared and skated today at morning practice.

Rangers still being cautious but this is a great sign for him and our long term.

If this and a return to the lineup of Rempe and last TWO games at home doesn't ramp this team up, then I give up.

ALARMING FACT

which fills me with playoff dread.

In even man 5 0n 5 situations the Jeers have scored the same number of goals as their opponents.

Relying on PP situations to win games like balancing on a knife edge.

I have no idea what went on last night but somebody better be alarmed.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 11, 2024, 10:04:31 PMBrutal performance tonight. Giving up the one seed in the East would be an ugly way to end an otherwise brilliant regular season.

Ahh...what was it the great Tom Coughlin used to drill into his troops....FINISH

No way Rempe should not dress from here on out.

I propose we just get it over with and MERGE the Bills and the Giants.

Give me a new expansion team, I am getting sick of the back and forth.

Quote from: Trench on March 30, 2024, 01:59:11 AMHe is destined to be a backup. A backup who can win. He is Jeff Hostetler. That is not a knock on either. It's what he is.

I have almost zero confidence at the end of a half or a game that he can drive down the field. When he does it is too few and far between and everything looks hurried and erratic.

Add in the fact he is an injury machine and it's almost certain the answer is no

" He is Jeff Hostetler. "

You should only wish.

Daboll teaching and preparing Kafka how to be a HC.

Going down the rabbit hole just get stranger and stranger.

Please Mr. Mara....stop the madness.

What he said...
Mara on the new coaches on the staff: "(Daboll) wanted to make some changes with certain members of the staff at the end of the season. I always believe that you let the head coach pick his own staff. Obviously, you don't want to have as much turnover as we had, but he wanted to make some changes. So, we let him go ahead and do that."

What he means...........
If these changes do not get things right and solve the myriad of problems, both external and INTERNAL that even a blind man could see, then there the next change will come down from my office.

Quote from: katkavage on March 24, 2024, 04:02:51 PMDoubtful he will be ready.

That has always been the plan.

Really, would you trust your job to Daniel Jones.

Quote from: T200 on March 22, 2024, 08:42:20 AMHe did absolutely nothing (just like his number) when he was on the field.

So tell me WHO did do something in our offense when they were on the field  ???

My guess is the best you can offer up is Slayton.

ANOTHER unused asset by Coach Sparky.

Sure he aint Jerry Rice but he is better than our 3rd, 4th, and 5th WR.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 18, 2024, 10:55:06 PMFair enough.

Serious question, as I don't know the answer: was all this bad stuff about Daboll's supposedly toxic personality known when he was in Buffalo? If so, how come Josh Allen has said such great things about him, and why would Joe Schoen, who clearly had extensive internal visibility in Buffalo, make a big bet on him by hiring him?

And if not, then why would a previously well-behaved, well liked guy suddenly become this toxic, bad guy?

I'm struggling to add all this up.

Everybody handles the pressure of being "the leader" differently.  For some it is not that big of a deal.  For others, especially at this level, they find themselves in a position as HC all alone and may internalize it in a way that causes their personality to take on characteristics that are new to them.

Some people are great soldiers, but lousy generals.  Perhaps that is the case with Daboll.  Shoen may have seen a great assistant but there was/is no way or very little way to predict how they will react to being "the man".

I am puzzled as to exactly why Shoen decided to monitor the headsets for four games.  IF, and this is purely conjecture, Shoen saw a problem maybe he thought he help fix it rather than reach a logical conclusion that Daboll was not the man for the job.  Remember Mara had made the statement that he was tired of firing HC every 2 years.  Would you want to be the new GM that goes into Mara's office and tell him "we need to  make a change at HC.....after 2 years again.  Remember Shoen hired Daboll.    Take a couple of i.m.o. lukewarm drafts, add in a volatile HC you hired.....Not a good look for Shoen.  And let's face it no one wants to lose their well paying job ever.  Especially since this is Shoen's first go around as a GM.  Next stop Jerry Reese land.

As for Daboll the halftime interview against Buffalo where he looked and sounded totally bewildered because of how the half ended was a flaming red flag for me.  Both halves of that game and the Jets game with a 4th and 1 to salt the game away where was his superstar captain RB utilized.  Didn't even touch the ball.  Don't blame Kafka.  In a game deciding situation like those the coach makes the call.   Sending out an injured PK.  Having a backup QB throw a jump ball at the back of the end zone....really.  Saquon Barkley, Mr. Franchise, doesn't touch the ball  ???  WHERE was his head ??

Then comes the "toxic" rumors after the season.  Smoke or fire ??

But the players love him !!!  Everyone loves an easy boss.  I will say the players did play hard for him.  But where are the wins ??  DeVito pulled at halftime of a game cuz "we needed a spark" and yet Game 1....a route by halftime Daniel Jones took every snap in the game, even at 40 - 0.  Never mind there are still 16 games to be played and my QB has a bad neck injury history.

I think Daboll, much like Jones has trouble processing under pressure.  Shoen will have to separate himself from Daboll this season if he wants to survive.  I doubt Mara has many nights where he is not tossing and turning.......and hoping.  Hoping doesn't win in the NFL.

I think both Shoen and Coach Sparky realize that their jobs may hinge on this season.  So Shoen got what he considered the most 1st team ready QB available on the market because he will probably need him and sooner rather than later.

Drew Lock will be the starting QB by Week 5, if not sooner.  And if he shines in camp and preseason then DJ will find himself on the PUP list.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 18, 2024, 09:57:23 PMThen why accept the NFL job in the first place?

Good question.

An even better question is why after such a short time does he want to go back to coaching on the college level.

Hmmmm.

I have my thoughts BUT I am a very big believer that our HC can only portray a personality for the reporters and public but for so long, and then his real personality takes over.  But hey, those are just my thoughts from the outside looking in.
