Messages - Giant Obsession

Don't know how long this will stay up on Youtube before the "police" have it taken down.

A good look at our emerging defense and a rememberance of how great teams are built...this was not a great team...3-12-1...and we almost got stuck with Howard Schnellenburger.

Still, all in all, a nice nostalgic look athe beginning of the Parcells era.

I believe if you understand the past, you can see and chart the future.

Plus you can watch 2 wastes of #1 draft choices -- Gordon King and Butch Woolfolk....and watch Joe Morris languishing on the sidelines not getting a chance.

as President Rick stated...read the late Eliot Asimof's book "Seven days to Sunday".  Homer seemed just a big, carefree kind of guy.  He loved fishing and did retire to his hometown somewhere in Texas.

He was also renowned for making up his own patterns on certain plays, which drove everyone crazy, especially the other receivers.

I think he may have been the father of The Passing Tree well ahead of his time.

This post needs a bump.

Homer Jones should be known by anyone who calls themselves a Giant fan and education of the past is important.

And yes, he was that good.

Retro, you are so right.

I remember watching Ian, and he had much better overall stuff than either Joba or Hughes.
Just another Yankee fast tracked who wasn't baseball mature, but grew into it.
Yankkes kill me with young pitchers...they nurtured Hughes carefully, then ultra fast tracked Joba who had great initial success.  They do the same with Ian, without the same success.  Banish him to the minors...he comes back in 2009, pitches 1 inning as a bridge to Mo in a BIG game against the Angels on the coast, then he does pitch another inning.

Then trade him.....ultimately for Granderson in a 3-way.
I like Curtis a lot....BUT who would you rather have ????
And I do temper his success with pitching in Nat'l. League where you have 2 guaranteed outs every time through the lineup, BUT he is very good, only 26, and will get even better.

Personally, I would have kept him, our staff would look very formidable in the playoofs with CC, Nova, and Kennedy, plus your rotation is  set for the next 5 years barring injury.

Worry not, Andy will be back...late July or early August.

still bothers me...a lot.

What a bunch of cheap shot artists lead by head skunk George Allen, who wondered why he was never considered all those years we needed a coach.

Our 1968 draft choice from Tulane...that left handed QB who Allie thought would become a fine DB......but was convinced by Fran in training camp that he was a very useful RB................

Bobby Duhon.  Good old Number 28.

Later to become Tucker Frederickson's brother in law....and then his EX brother in law.

Nice rookie year, excellent out of the backfield catching passes, above average punt returner....2 of his next 4 years were basically destroyed by knee injuries.

To me he had the look of a Joe Morrison, whom any team can always use.

My other 2 are WR that I think had the possibility of becoming special.......Coleman Zeno...and Odessa Turner.

I still have the Odessa game against the Skins back in I believe it was 1988 where he caught 7 or 8 balls, over 100 yards, 1 TD....and then ran into a fence at old RFK and blew out his knee in the 3rd quarter.  Big and Fast, he reminded so closely of Homer Jones I still salivate thinking about it.

Zeno was a 17th round draft choice from Grambling in 1971, late in the year against the Chargers finally dresses and  caught 4 balls for 90 yards, 2 of which would have been TD but Fran could not reach him in stride, he was too fast.

Next week catches 1 pass, blows out knee....GONE.

There were only 17 rounds back then, he had a chance to become something special.

Or at least in my then young mind, they all 3 might have been...... :)

Tucker Frederickson's best game ever as a Giants.

Outstanding Rich.  How many other talents do you have................

perhaps backup center in an emergency.

You are the straw, my man.
