Jones should have a field day against that D.

Quote from: JT39 on September 25, 2023, 07:59:10 PMIf you watch any game - you will see QBs do get pressured and make plays. They're a lot of great QBs in this league.

However - what you don't see is them being pressured as much or as quickly as Jones?

Does Jones miss WRs at times cause of the pressure - I'm sure. But wouldn't it be nice to see him drop back 30 times a game and get pressured like 3 or 4 times?

Most QBs would like that. Very very few do. Jones has to deal with it. That's life for a QB in the NFL.

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 25, 2023, 08:47:33 AMHere's the thing, the Bills didn't exactly have great O-line play while Bobby Johnson was their O-line coach.  That is despite the Bills throwing tons of assets at improving the O-line.

O-line coaches are tasked with both scouting O-line prospects as well as developing them.   The Giants spent 3 picks on the line last year and one this year.  The Giants had Andrew Thomas and Brad Bederson on their roster.  Schoen signed (I assume Bobby Johnson signed off on him) Glowinski.

When a unit is playing as poorly as this one is despite the massive resources devoted to it, you have to take a hard look at the coaching.

I wonder how much losing former assist O-line coach Tony Sparano Jr. impacted the line.  He is now the O-line coach in Indy and he has that line blocking well.

That's very true. Coaching is important indeed and to find a good one is not easy. That's on Daboll to assemble a competent staff.

Nope. Same outcome. Though of course we will never know the real answer. This is my opinion.

Most NFL QBs are successful when they have time to throw. It's the ones who can create when there is pressure that are a cut above the others who cannot. I'm not trying to denigrate Jones. I think at this point in his career and what he is now getting paid to perform, we, as fans, have to stop making excuses for him.

More bad offensive lines than good in the NFL. The Giants are far from being alone on this.

For what it's worth, they shouldn't make fun of Jones. It was the game plan. What the coaches devised based on what they think he could hand. That being said, can we please stop with the excuses for a fifth year QB who is making serious change for playing the position?

Not a serious post, I don't think.

The Giants played an elite defense. They played hard, but just are not good enough to stay with a team like SF. We can better judge them against middling teams like the Seahawks, Commanders, and Jets.

He is just one of those athletes that can do anything. I'm sure he would have been a star in MLB and maybe even the NBA too if he chose those paths.

I would be very wary of doing this. It could turn out great. Or, just as likely, be a disaster for the franchise. 50/50 odds at best.

CNN has been shameless in it's coverage of Covid. The know misery sells and brings ratings and have exploited they throughout. Just as Fox sells fear of the brown people coming across the border. Or the ridiculous CRT hysteria. It cuts both ways, MG.

Fox has it's talking points in sync with the much of the Republican Party. They are spreading fear their own way as CNN did when they sensationalize Covid. But Fox is relentless and usually misrepresents the facts. Irresponsible to say the least.
