anyone else suspect that JR will go DE at 32 and draft the future OL players in rounds 2-4?
#167
timing in this draft is key with the WR's this year.  some are reaches in the first round and blue light sale bargains if they fall to the 3rd.  lots to pick from.  I see us taking a WR in the first three rounds and I hope it's a guy with Nicks' size or better...another Plax.  unless we think, as JR implies, that we already have that guy and his name is barden.  one of the many write-ups [on yahoo] saw KWright as a potential bust.  like all the other positions, we don't have a glaring need.  I hope to see 2 OL in the top 5 picks, likely a WR & RB and probably a safety.  We did our LB drafting last year unless a real gem slips to us.    this could be a very intriguing draft for us Giants fans.

nice analysis.  thanks for all the hard work.  one other thing really impressed me on this play, and it occurred prior to the snap.....your clips don't show it but the nfl net replay of the game does.

watch MM as he lines up for the play.  he barely nods toward Eli and subtly points down the field...it was just enough to say "I see it too".  MM was seeing where the pats' safeties were set, inside near the hashmarks, as the clips show.  MM correctly read just what Eli was seeing and thinking.  Run the deep sideline pattern.  QB and WR were right on the same line of the same page.  Both knew what the play had to be.  And Eli threw a perfect pass.  Go Giants.

NFL Draft, NY Giants style / Re: Yay...a Terrapin

todge: I saw scott on tv a few times and didn't see such glaring problems.  granted every college RB has to improve in pass blocking but he's not a wuzz.  and at 211 he's knocked over a few tacklers.  maybe not as strong as AB but not every running play goes off guard.

at 211, not so small.  I see him as another AB, whether we res-gn AB or not [I hope we do].  if he can catch the ball consistently it opens some dimensions for Eli that we really haven't exploited since tiki's days;, and a possible second slot receiver shifting out of the backfield on 3rd down.  we had a kid from Maryland a few years ago [DB?] but he didn't make the team.  I'll be excitted to see Scott at camp [you guys too...LOL].  Go Giants

RB Da'Rel Scott.  Maryland.  had the fasted RB time in the 40...4.35 or so.

we'll keep BJ, AB, ware and Scott at RB.

Yes, I'm a Maryland grad [Ph.d., 1988].  Go Terps.  GO GIANTS.

Giants History / Re: Taxi squad question
January 11, 2011, 09:52:50 AM
I'd heard long ago that the taxi squad term referred to the practice of those plaers going to the games in cabs rathetr than the team bus because they weren't on the official roster.  maybe, maybe not.  this browns' explanation is very plausible.

one blip in the overall [very fine] seasonal comparison, but perhaps an ominous sign...that poor Giants showing in the 87 season was the result of that being a strike year.  we were the defending SB champs and we never got out of the gate.   our replacements were worse than the real keanu reeves playing qb for real for us.  our non-replacement record in 87 was pretty good as I recall.  anyway, it's interesting to think, and shudder, about the implications of a lockout for some or all of 11 which I hope does not occur.
long way until summer, but Go Giants.

there is an inexpensive but ok days inn and a more pricy hampton inn [easy walk across the street fron suny] or HIexpress on western and a reasonable hilton garden inn on washington as well.  we're trying the garden inn this year because the ladies want a pool.

mea culpa.  it is fuller road.  how could I forget that [all those nights at the Frat House].     see, back in the day, it was always dark when we drove to albany.  sorry.

Nice work, G-Girl.  And pilamaya!

(President) Rick and wife Phyllis plan to attend.

coming from Ohio, we can bring desserts [brownies, etc.] and paper towels.

and....it looks like there will be four from the Owens family.  Our son Brian and his [soon to be] bride Adrianna [wedding is July 23!!] will be joining us.   <:-P  We'll bring extra desserts.

I would have taken Pouncey with #15 as a high value and solid need especially in 2011-2012 and beyond, and saved the DE - DT- LB picks for later in rounds 2,3,4, with no safety in rounds 1-4..
