Used a three word elimination and this was the only word with letters left I could think of. 

After 4 tries, I said to myself, "self, you are going to lose your streak today"

Ridiculous word, but I got it...basically because I had so few letters left to work with...took me forever

 I had the right combo, just took me a while to get the missing letter. I usually go over all my unused letters and when none of them fit, I sit there a scratch my head until I stupidly7 realize I can use letters already used. I should have had it in four, but I'll settle for a narrow escape at 6.

I don't have any sort of numbers that can support whether this is actually a good idea or not, but I have often found that when I attack the letter Y (ie getting the mystery out of the way by guessing it early in the process), while that may seem like a waste, that is often really helpful. I feel like they have been using Ys a lot of late. We had today and had that COYLY word recently, plus a number of others in not distant memory.

I am playing on the hard setting, many of the tactics that make the game easier are no longer available.
