We didn't need a leak to know that we were targeting Jeremy Shockey, Tyrone Wheatley (and he was 17th), Jon Ogden, Eli Manning, Ron Dayne.  Same goes for Smith.  There is enough draft buzz at the top of any draft to intuit what your favorite team, whom you'd like to think you are intimately familiar with, is going to pick.  This is, of course, only reasonably possible when you are drafting near the top.  When you are dealing with, say, 7 teams and perhaps 10 or so possible players to slot into those positions, you can use the publicized information about needs, relationships within the organizations to the prospects, understanding of player match to team scheme to eliminate who is and isnt likely to be picked in front of your team's pick.  It isn't science but it is easier to manage when the number of possibilities are reduced.

This does not need to be stated.  Every fan who engages in the draft process understands and does this mental exercise instinctively.  Think the Philadelphia Eagles can't do the same with a much deeper pool of information?

Yeah the draft is a crapshoot and you never know who anyone will pick but sometimes you kind of do.
