It also matters where it happened even though it shouldnt. I grew up in Mississippi but spent the past 12 years of my life in Los Angeles. I go back to the Southeast for work and Mississippi when going to most of the Ole Miss games in the fall and the law is completely different.

Los Angeles cops have to deal with so much that they aren't so petty. They aren't going to pull over someone for a failed signal, tag light being out, or anything small/petty.

Mississippi/Southeast cops I have found will find any minor infraction or reason to pull someone over.

These cops were clearly not prepared for what they were dealing with and over reacted to the situation. You would likely have not seen the same reaction to something so insignificant or the rush to detain and arrest if this had been in or around a major metropolitan area.

Just my opinion though.

They are giving him a shot hence why they signed him.

The likelihood that he makes the roster over guys drafted the past 2 years in Gray and Tracy is slim though.

That's were the joint practices and preseason differ. All the notes coming out of the practices with the lions say they dominated us in every aspect. Beat writers chose to focus on a preseason game  because positive enthusiasm early gets more clicks than the alternative.

Last offseason the Lions dominated us in joint practices and I remember the story being oh well Dan Campbell is an intense guy so the Lions probably practice hard-core and go all out being at home.

Then 1 series in Carolina with 4 vanilla Waller catches later and we are the greatest show on turf.

So wild to see the narrative run wild because 90% of the beat writers thought the offense was going to be great after that carolina game.

That injury clauses is a very real concern for a guy that has played 16 games only once in his 5 seasons in the NFL.

41.5 million total for 2025

-23 million guaranteed if he can't pass a physical at the beginning of the year

-12 million guaranteed if he isn't cut by march

So if he is on the roster in March it'll cost us 42 million on the cap and if he is cut he could only cost 22 million, maybe even 11 if we spread the dead cap over 2 years.

So the difference in 30 million or 12% of our cap will be decided on whether or not Jones simply plays injury free, not whether he plays great or bad.

All the people that supposedly "hate" Jones on this forum are the primary ones in every game day thread rooting him on.

This is an NFL team forum, we are hyper critical of every single player and coach.

Most of this forum have been hyper critical of multiple players and coaches.

So it's ok for the majority of the fan base to be hyper critical of them constantly and root for them but it's different for Jones?

Nothing would have made me happier than Jones being the guy because then we wouldn't have to find one but that hasn't been the case.

I am actually on the opposite side of the Neal debate as I think he got really good reps in before getting injured this past season. The majority here though have been hyper critical of him for his comments and his play. Are they actively rooting against him?

If anything Daniel Jones being great would make everything significantly easier for the football team.

Do we now also think that the people that believe Neal is horrible are also actively rooting against him as well?

So "insert player" is bad, so the fan base must be actively rooting against him?

You hear more about Jones than other players because his play hasn't elevated year on year with his pay.

People thinking Jones is a bad Qb and rooting against him are two very different things. Most people that are actual Giants fans acknowledge how bad he's been then when the whistlebl blows are locked in on the Giants and Jones winning.

Is this anything new? For the past 5 years it's been Barkley and now it's Lawrence and Thibs. The best players on the team or flashy 1st rd picks are typically the focus of the media.

They signed 4 free agent guards with flex plus 2 blocking TEs and drafted another.

JMS in year 2 plus what is really year 2 for Neal with a new oline coach and there's no way they aren't better.

I'm not saying elite or even great but could easily see us being 18th at the end of 2024 with our additions.
