Big Blue Huddle / Re: Galloday's contract beyond 2022
November 02, 2022, 03:37:19 PM
I think I would honestly prefer to take the pain next year instead of spreading it two years.  I just want to be done with all these crappy contracts and have a lot of freedom to spend in future years.  $7MM extra to spend next year isn't chump change, and then his contract is gone forever after 2023.

They almost certainly are going to have to keep Barkley now, as letting him go for nothing at the end of the year would be worse than trading him at the deadline when we are 6-2.  The only downside to a season that is going much better than expected is that we had to stand pat at a minimum, and I am not sure if that is what Schoen would have preferred.  Have no idea if they want to pay Barkley $15MM+ for multiple years.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: JS on the Giants WR grouo
November 01, 2022, 08:09:17 PM
I honestly am pretty shocked at anyone that is disappointed in JS.  Some people are WAY overvaluing the Giants.  We cannot compete with the Eagles, much less the Cowboys.  We are playing way over our heads, but that is an amazing thing.  We have a coaching staff in place that the players respond to.  And a GM that has a plan.  He's not going to spend assets to make a run to the playoffs because we are not going to realistically win anything.

If a young WR like Jeudy could be had, I would have been all for it.  Maybe we should have been more aggressive for Claypool.  But someone like Cooks or an older WR to just win a couple more games would be foolish.

Sorry for being late to the game here.  My name is Darrel.   I live in Northern NJ.

Ten different analysts will have ten different picks for the Giants.  And Jerry is going to multiple pro days.  I can post something too that says that my "sources" suggest the Giants will pick _____.

Maybe he will be right in the end, but 33 years of drafts with no 1st round LB and the Giants' preference for DE and CB suggests he will not be correct.  Besides, who knows of someone of interest will slide to 23 and throw off the entire assumption he has.

Best Player Available. There are no guarantees in life and in football. I can see them picking a OT, DB, WR...but DT would make the most sense if the player was a starting caliber 3T.

Agreed.  Because there are no major holes in the roster now except for DT, I can see them going anywhere in Round 1.  That is why filling major holes in free agency is so important... it allows us to draft for value and not need.

I really like the idea of Massie, although I suspect that the Giants would not go in that direction so quickly after taking Brewer.  Not that I think Massie is not better, but that I don't see the Giants going for another RT type and giving up on Brewer so quickly.

FWIW, I would love an OT, but I suspect that the Giants are comfortable rolling with Beatty, Diehl, Brewer, and Locklear for this year.  Just my suspicion.

BBH Archive / Re: Seat License Owners

Guys, I have two about 10 rows from the field.  Great seats.  With a four year old, busy job, and stuff around the house, I am at a point where getting to a game is a time commitment that I cannot make too much right now.  I try to get to the big games (Eagles, Cowboys), but most other games I cannot get to right now.  Let me get my tix in the mail and make sure no one else I know wants any tix first, then I will be more than happy to discuss with the board.

Mighty, thanks for letting me know.  Definitely would like to meet up sometime with some of the crew.

1) I live in Rockaway, New Jersey, a short 30 minute drive to the stadium (without traffic of course!).

2) As you probably can tell from my screen name, I am a season ticket holder.  My dad had tickets back to the Yale Bowl days, but I have been going to games since the 70's.  My first real memory I have is finally getting back to the playoffs in '81.  I probably was at the fumble game in '78, but I don't remember (maybe I blocked it out! ).

3) I am a Senior Manager for a small biotech/pharma company in Parsippany, NJ.

4) Really looking forward to some good discussion and maybe meeting up with everyone someday.  I found my way to the board from the Giant Insider one since there is so much trolling over there that I got sick of it.  Anyone who lives in the area and wants to go to a game - let me know!
