I would have drafted Alt if not a QB. Evan Neal has to find a way to a starting role on this team. Either at RT competing with Alt or Guard. The best way to get better results from Jones is to protect him in the pocket. If you want to get his head clear, protect him. He didn't need a shiney hood ornament. Just ask this guy...

I think the Giants would have taken Alt if they had the 5 pick

Manningham was average at best and struggled to learn the playbook needing a redshirt year to even make the field. Slayton and Manningham are very similar. when he was the number 1 he came up short. His best year he was the #2 receiver receiving the benefit of Nicks taking the #1. All that being said he made one of the greatest catches with zero room for error at the most critical juncture of the game and that puts him in a very special class.

Nicks was a stud. Injuries took their toll but he was a stud. He was a #1 receiver.

Eli made Cruz and the two complemented each other nicely for three very nice seasons

Toomer was an important vet for a rookie Qb to have but was past his peak production by the time Eli came along

Shockey was a nutjob head case whose benefit to the team was negated by his negative impact on his QB and the game plan. The Giants were not a team until he was hurt.

Plax changed everything for Eli IMO

The New York Giants are a corner stone organization in the NFL.  The TV revenue sharing agreed to in the early 60's by Wellington for the benefit and growth of the NFL is why the NFL is where it is today.

It was said The Duke was the heart and soul of the NFL and The New York Football Giants are not too far behind him.

Players might not like the taxes in New York State but players love being here and hate leaving.

Nabers was 6 not Top 5, Harrison was Top 5.

Had the Giants had a Top 5 pick I think we all can agree there is no guarantee Nabers would not have been the pick.
Furthermore, Jamar Chase and waddle just went 5 and 6 2 seasons ago. Both teams got great value

RE: Safety in the 2nd round- I do not know But the G-men got the #1 rated safety in the draft and a Top 35 player in the draft with the 47 pick at a huge need after the departure of Mckinney

Much of this person's claims are wrong and the one that is not blatantly incorrect is debatable

An analytics professional  should be well aware value is also analyzed by the number at the position, as well as, position by round . Probabilities drastically change based on the which rated prospect at a position is selected.

Schoen has made comments that placed him in the middle of the road regarding QB all along.  After things fell the way they did why would he say anything that might decrease DJ's probability for success?

If they are going to be on your roster than you support them and Schoen is doing just that yet is always looking at his options.

If Tommy was in the running he would not have signed Lock. There is a good chance 2 of the 3 QB's will be gone next season.

Jones has to decide to make certain throws and needs to start hitting receivers in stride and/or all together that he has been missing. 

Jones is reluctant to throw intermediate and long throws unless it is obviously open.  And despite the line, there are plenty of examples of him missing these on plays without pressure. 

There are windows in plays that exist before it is blatantly obvious that the receiver will be open that good quarterbacks will deliver a pass in.  Jones does not take those. Jones needs big windows of separation to pull the trigger or he checks down or runs.  These are the critical throws that when completed alter the defenses single safety approach toward Jones.  Every time he checks down or runs to no avail he reaffirms the defenses approach to bring it and force him over the top.  He is yet to make a defense pay. He must earn the right to see a different defense.

Nabers will probably get the separation that will make Jones comfortable to throw the intermediate and longer throws. In that sense I believe he will help DJ.  He will not make him good and certainly not great.  But he probably will make him functional again.

Nabers, Hyatt and Robinson should be more than enough to provide Jones opportunities to show he can process defensive pre snap fronts and make the correct reads. A healthy Waller with Nabers is more than most QB's are afforded so if they keep Waller there really is not excuse.

Seems to me the ability to evaluate a player is subjective.

Simply evaluate jones on the clean pocket plays and they exist

-does not take chances down field 
-cannot hit cross routes in stride
-good on hitting passes off the cut
-checks down underneath to his security blanket (maybe why they were comfortable letting him go)

I am not even saying the 12 mill needs to be reinvested in the TE unit, spend it elsewhere. 

Last year Waller was a disappointment and looked like a guy who wasn't all in.  For him to come out this offseason and admit as much, be gone.

Go with Bellinger and develop Johnson.  Trade Slayton for a TE. 

Get Mercedes Lewis and use him for blocking downs and work Bellinger and Johnson into the passing game.

I am not convinced Jones can progress through 4 receiving routes on 1 play anyway so there is that... at least in his first 5 years he has not so far

Any growth will be leveraged into using his trade value to move on.

Waller's gutless, uninspired brand of football is not what the team needs. 

Paying 14 mill for what little he brings to the table I think is a huge waste. 

I suspect they will cut him post June 1 so only 1.9 mill will hit this year and 5.9 next year.

All those picks and no ability to make sure the proper coaches were in place to develop them.

he was horrible when he wanted to play, I can't imagine his indecision will increase the caliber of his play

Tuned in 1/2 way through second and rangers were in the process of giving up 2 goals in 2 shots

Played a solid third, Kreider's goal was sweet

pulled it out, grabbed the  2 points

Not sure how first half of game played out though
