Giants-Texans pregame thoughts:

• There's some real concern about the impact of Xavier McKinney's absence within the organization. He doesn't have as many splash plays as last year, but he's been important in limiting big plays. Rookie Dane Belton in that role is an unknown.

• Good news is that the Texans' passing game is pedestrian, but Mills has 28 completions of 20-plus yards, which is tied for seventh-most. (Daniel Jones has 9).

• All about the run D today. Expect Jaylon Smith to be the top ILB again with Micah McFadden ahead of Tae Crowder.

• Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams should feast on this interior O-line.

• Interested to see what the offensive coaches come up with out of the bye against a vanilla Houston D. Guessing we'll see some wrinkles, but this should be a Saquon 150 yard-plus rushing day.

• Think this will be a revealing game as the second half starts. Giants are expected to win against a weak opponent, but they're down some key players (McKinney, Bellinger, Neal, Bredeson). Some uneasiness will set in with a loss, but I expect them to grind out a W.

Sills is now running routes for Davis Webb. He's been putting himself through an extensive early workout, which typically is a sign of someone who will be inactive.

Looking like I'll be at least 0-for-1 based on the extensive pregame workout David Sills just completed. He ran a bunch of routes with Davis Webb. Can't imagine he'd do all that if he was going to be active, so looks like recently acquired Isaiah Hodgins will be active.
