Quote from: Philosophers on April 26, 2024, 10:48:40 PMI think we lost our shot at the best Day 1 starting Guards.  Zinter was the last.  My guess is they like their FA signings.

Looks like DT and RB are their holes they may focus on.

I think they might be looking at TEs. They brought in Theo Johnson (the only TE) for a visit. They also brought in RB Trey Benson (the only RB), but he's gone. DT's have been picked clean except for Gabe Hall. We're on the clock tomorrow with the 6th pick, I expect it could be TE Theo Johnson or TE Cade Stover, DT3 Gabe Hall, or maybe one of the RBs Jaylen Wright, Braelen Allen, or Ray Davis  :-??

Quote from: madbadger on April 26, 2024, 11:05:34 PMIt isn't. I love Nubin pick. Wished they had taken one of the top three running backs and Corum was still on the board. It's probably more of a reaction at knowing our offense is going to painful to watch again.

Whether you like it or not, they have Gray from last year's draft and signed Devin Singletary. It's a low draft value position and they--at least in their minds--have it filled barring some unforeseen circumstance. Also, if this re-build is longer than one offseason (which it assuredly is), there is next year's draft. Yes, 2024 may be painful... but was there a way to fix that in one draft cycle? I'm not positive that spending a premium pick on a RB would have accomplished a legitimate goal.

OK, this is one of those guys who does not look like a football player. Doesn't pass the eye test.

Everything about him seems out-of-whack and just plain wrong... until the ball is snapped.

Super instincts and blitz timing, outstanding vision while the ball is in the air (which allows him to anticipate very well and consistently locate himself right where the ball comes down... again and again. A play-maker.

This, IMO, could be the best value pick of the three so far.

Getting Nabers at six was clearly a good value, but getting Phillips in the 3rd round was a much bigger surprise.

Incidentally, Brugler had Phillips ranked higher than Nubin on the over-all list of best players in this draft.

Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on April 26, 2024, 10:59:49 PMI'm confused. If the needs on D were DT, CB and Safety and we addressed 2 of them why is that a bad thing?  There's still tomorrow when we can hopefully get some offensive contributors

Well, game three started off with concern when Igor let in that early first period goal. But we need not have worried as our Rangers were up to the task and Igor became an unstoppable wall. For Kreider to provide the equalizer in undera minute, after the Caps' score, changed the course of the game. The short-handed goal, which was a thing of beauty, shoved a knife into the Caps.

We can talk about Rempe's physical play, Igor back to his magical playoff form, excellent defense and overall patience and discipline which proved the difference in the Rangers earning win #3 on the road.

Getting the third win was also important as Carolina is also up 3-0 in their series with the Isles.

Sunday, can they close it out?

Peace!
