Big Blue Huddle

1. I hope the CB2 is not on the roster or else we might be in trouble. Flott is a better fit in the slot, and I don't yet trust Hawkins. Looking good in camp and looking good in actual games are very different.

2. Flott. He played well in the latter half of the year. And I wasn't happy with the Phillips pick and so don't see him competing early.

3. This is a no-brainer - Pinnock and Nubin.

4. McFadden. I see several calling for a full-time role for Simmons but he is not - and has never been - an effective every-down guy. Put him situations to succeed to get the most out of him. And while MM is no superstar, he plays a decent second fiddle next to Bobby.

5. Not on roster. But with hole at CB2 still needing to be filled, might have to go cheap here. In which case it's a Davidson-led rotation.

6. If Nabers isn't Day 1 starter then we really screwed up. Wan'dale is in the slot, with Slayton still a better option than Hyatt at this point.

7. Not a fan of any of them, so don't think it matters. But I'll go with Tracy.

8. Bellinger, with a lot of Johnson sprinkled in on 2-TE sets.

We've already tried the "move LT to RT" thing and that hasn't worked out well at all.  It still might, but so far it isn't good.  I was more than open to taking a tackle, but not in Round one and to move him to the right side.  I preferred Nabers for sure.

I've never seen a correlation between the play at the end of one year and what happens the following year. Means nothing.

Before anyone here post " the draft is already done" I just want an opinion on what you think. Both men are there at 6...who would you have preferred?


I have seen several reports that Joe Schoen # 1 pick in the draft was Joe Alt. It is said he was sending signals around the league that a QB was in play for the Giants. If a team that wanted a QB would have traded up with a team in the top 5, that in turn would help out chances of Alt slipping to pick 6. Smart way of thinking IMO.


As we all know, no trades were done. I myself didn't se the Chargers taking Alt at 5


For me. I like the Nabers pick. And if I was choosing at 6 I would have taken Nabers at 6 too.

Some might say this was a deep WR draft class and while true, after the top 3 WRs in this draft, the talent wasn't the same. Sure you might get a stud in round 2, Nabers talent cannot be denied. I have seen some that felt Nabers was a better WR than Harrison Jr and regardless of who you thought was better, just the fact they were neck and neck in some conversations speaks volumes about his God given talent.


This draft was also fairly deep as it pertains to the offensive line too. I am in the camp of " it's not easy switching from Left Tackle to Right Tackle". Joe Alt is a stud, but he is a stud at Left Tackle. To assume he would transition to Right tackle with ease is not a given.

For me I would prefer to draft a kid that for the most part played Soley at Right Tackle for the majority of his time in college.

I hate to say it but Philly lost both a very good OC and DC the year before . Both were so good that the NFL teams hired them as their Head Coaches. Well guess what? That Roseman once again went for the gusto and brought in Fangio and Kellen Moore. He did a phenomenal job in not sticking with two guys that weren't performing but quickly pivoted two two proven coordinators with strong track records.

I think it's pointless to judge either Lock or DJ right now. I want to see what both look like with a better coached OL that is likely not coming close to giving up a historic 85 sacks and a WR core that now finally has what many think will be an elite WR1.

Too much muscle in a violent and sudden change of direction sport is not always a good thing. Aaron Wellman coming back hopefully will help with this faulty philosophy.

GM's generally shouldn't draft the lower impact positions top of round 1 (unless they have a HOF level grade and their 'greatness' transcends the lower impact of the position). However, once you get to round 2 and 35-40 picks in and you find a Kenny Phillips or a Xavier McKinney or a Chris Snee do you pass on them then too when they have a 10-year high level starter or multiple pro-bowls written all over them?


Secondly, the no-trades argument when Schoen has both traded up and traded down in the two drafts before AND it was quite evident they were heavily involved in trying to trade up for a QB in this one with an absolutely elite grade in Maye.

His argument is weak and seems like he is 'fishing ' to disparage Scheon and the Giants for click bait.

The 2nd part of Marc's quote should have been: 'But they certainly allow good QBs to elevate their production.'
