If you go back over the years, Chris Simms has been pretty spot on when it comes to his QB rankings.

I chose Caleb Williams.

He has multiple years playing at an elite level.
The offensive talent he played with at USC was not NFL worthy like some of the other QBs listed. Yet he still balled out. He elevated their play.
I have seen Williams single handedly win games (See OU Texas).
His throwing ability while escaping pressure is 2nd to none. Although he threw 3 interceptions against Notre Dame, if you watched the game you would see he played a pretty darn good game, considering he was harrassed the whole time. USC Oline got abused all game. Imo, Williams is going to be a star

Quote from: Philosophers on March 01, 2024, 09:39:31 AMSorry but many here keep defending Caleb Williams as being mature.  He is a QB, the most heavily invested position in the NFL.  Teams have to take him apart to ensure he is fine medically and every other way.  This is another red flag to me.  As I have said before, my USC booster friends say to stay away from him.  He has gotten very entitled they have said.

Ha! College boosters saying someone feels entitled? Talk about an Oxymoron 😂
Has anyone heard of any teammate, coach, friend or family member say anything negative about Williams?

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 01, 2024, 10:04:18 AMAre you comparing the first player (since the Combine started in 1985) to refuse a medical with the relatively common practice of a QB not running in the Combine?   There are some minor concerns with McCarthy, but I have a hard time equating that with the historic decision by Williams.

With McCarthy, the biggest red flag is his own coach didnt trust him to throw them to a victory.

With Williams, Deion Sanders did something similar to what Williams is doing and I think Sanders turned out alright and I believe Williams will as well.

Red flag! I mean if Williams is getting red flagged for every little decision, let's be fair and throw the red flag here too!!!

He is purposely trying to get to the Commanders. Smart!

Meaning if 1 of the 4 they like are available at pick 6, they are taking a QB

Big Blue Huddle / Re: No tag for Barkley
February 27, 2024, 12:11:15 PM
So what is the plan at RB if Barkley signs elsewhere? Gray starts with a drafted rookie as backup? Getting a rookie RB sounds great, but there is no guarantee that the rookie pans out, even though many think starting caliber RBs can easily be found in later rounds. If that's the case why haven't any late round Giants RBs panned out? Last one was Bradshaw if I remember correctly.

I believe in this draft with the 6th pick and the Giants already having their LT, the value best pick would be for a #1 WR, such as Odunze or Nabers.

The Oline is better fixed through FA and possibly one of the 2nd round picks. Not to mention guards are more easy to find in the later rounds than #1 WR.

Interesting that they seem to think none of the players are Pro Bowl talent. I would disagree wholeheartedly

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Let's talk about Jayden Daniels
February 21, 2024, 09:41:42 PM
The Big 12 had the best defense. Statistically they aren't, but when you're facing the high powered offenses of the Big 12 your defense will look pedestrian 😜

As for Daniels, I am skeptical of just one magical season coupled with 4 so-so seasons. I guess it wouldn't be the first time it worked out so sign me up!

I absolutely would trade for Herbert. I'd give up way more than the 6th pick to get it done too. I remember the pass he made against the Giants. He is special!!!! Man we are dreaming here, but boy did I get excited for a second just thinking of Herbert as the Giants QB!!!! I don't see how anyone says no if it could happen.

Quote from: Bob In PA on February 20, 2024, 04:12:16 PMsooners: I doubt you'll agree, but if the Giants move to 1 or 2 and fail to take Harrison, Jr., I would be very disappointed. Bob

You are correct. I don't agree :) Harrison will likely be an absolute animal on the football field but WR is not a position you trade multiple high picks for. Maybe one high pick but not multiple.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 20, 2024, 03:20:10 PMWashington has a new GM and a new head coach, and their starting QB is 5th-round pick Sam Howell.  They are in a position to draft an elite quarterback. Do you think they will pass on that opportunity?

The Bear's trade assumes they stick with Justin Fields (as some have suggested they will or should do)

I do assume the Commanders aren't sold on Howell, so I don't believe they would trade out, nor do I think the Bears will trade out. Based on the trade proposed by the former GM, I would not trade up to 1 but could possibly accept a trade with the Commanders or even the Patriots if Maye was still available and I didn't have to include Thibs.

But what about trading up to 2 and taking Maye/Daniel's/McCarthy or whomever the 2nd QB is? Keep Kayvon and the rest remains the same?
