Quote from: DaveBrown74 on February 09, 2024, 06:32:41 PMGreat OP Rich.

It really is appalling how bad the situation is right now. I have been a big Schoen advocate, but I have to admit the roster doesn't look any better now than when he took the job. This team was very lucky to win six games.

Of course, the grim reality is in fact that we were decidedly unlucky to win six games.
Spot on! Roster doesn't look anymore talented than when Gettlemen was GM. Heck the best players on the team weren't drafted by Schoen.

Quote from: T200 on February 09, 2024, 02:25:07 PMI still subscribe to the "Defense Wins Championships" philosophy.
The Chiefs definitely have the better defense. The 49ers defense hasn't exactly lived up to expectations these playoffs but I think they'll be able to contain Mahomes and that offense to 20 points or less.

49ers win by 10. Too much firepower for the Chiefs to keep up. I think the 49ers defense will come to play and limit Mahomes magic making abilities.

Don't like it at all! Don't pass up an elite WR, Elite Olineman, or elite pass rusher for a trade down to take an iffy QB. Darius Robinson with their 1st 2nd rd pick? Had to be better options available. I like the Cooper Beebe pick though.

Hopefully so

It's likely 😆

Quote from: Ed Vette on February 04, 2024, 12:52:01 PMI think Calib may drop and shock the Football world.

Ain't likely. He goes first and if it's not to the Bears he definitely isn't getting past Washington.

No way in hell should the Giants take McCarthy at pick 6. What do they say about a running game? It's a QBs best friend. Michigan could run the ball, which made McCarthy's job way easier. I watched a few games of his and at no point did I see anything special. Seems like others disagree with me but if based on the info I have, I don't take him at 6. Reeks of Daniel Jones all over again!!!!

Quote from: Ed Vette on February 04, 2024, 11:54:29 AMGood point. It only matters what you think/say. ;)

It's not what I am thinking/saying, it is what Jones has proved so far. In 5 seasons, he has only played a 16 game season once, every other year he
Missed games due to injury.  As far as production, his top two TD seasons was his rookie year with 26 TDs combined (great for a rookie) and then just last year with 22 TDs combined (terrible for a 5th year player) so 4 out of 5 seasons he wasn't exactly lighting it up. The facts back up what I think.

Quote from: Ed Vette on February 04, 2024, 11:05:04 AMActually according to these reports, nobody in this class has elite potential.

Which, goes against many experts opinions. Williams is considered one of the better QBs to come out in a long time (likely due to the success of Mahomes and how Williams compares to Mahomes), and Maye and Daniel's are considered elite.

Jones is an injury prone QB that can't be relied on to stay healthy and when healthy, he isn't exactly lighting it up! A backup plan at the QB position should be at the top of the to do list. No matter what Banks or anyone else thinks/says.

Quote from: kingm56 on February 01, 2024, 08:56:33 AMSo that invalidates Jackson's own MVP numbers, while playing with limited skilled positions?  Do we dismiss Phil Simms efforts because he played with an elite defense?

I should have explained/wrote more. It does not invalidate Jackson's MVP numbers but what it does is, allow the Ravens to beat the 49ers, which gave Jackson the nod over Purdy as MVP. That Ravens D gave up 19 points to the 49ers and intercepted Purdy 4 times. That D was fantastic. As was Jackson.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: What QB would you trade up for?

I'd trade almost anything for Williams. He WILL be a star!!!

Lamar is not the MVP in my eyes. The Ravens defense gave up only 16.5 points a game. They are the real MVP!
#75
Not sure what was offered but that trade could have propelled the Giants to better things.
