They better address O Linemen and not D Linemen in the first three rounds if they want to be a better team in 2017.  I don't care if it's via FA, the draft or trades, but that is the hole and it is pretty damn clear.

Shoeless - Butt tore his ACL in the bowl game.  It was his second ACL tear and surgery but it was to the other leg.  He had surgery the first week of January and noted that it went really well and he was already doing rehab by 2nd week of January.  He previously tore his other ACL in February 2014, had surgery and was back on the field playing in October 2014 so it appears he really works hard to rehab and gets back pretty quickly.  All good news.

I like the kid a lot.  He's big with great hands, very disciplined and works very hard.  What I don't love is that his blocking is average as he plays "high" and less in a low anchored position and he does not have explosive speed/athleticism, however he gets downfield all the time due to good route running and going up to snatch the ball in the air so he is not a liability running downfield routes.

I like Jake Butt a lot more as an option for the Giants now that they have Ellison to improve the blocking from a TE position.  He is a pass catching TE.

I dont want the word "lazy" associated with our pick at 23.  Had too much of that

Didnt they say the same thing anout Marshawn Lynch when he came out of Cal that he'd never be an everyday back in the NFL due to his size?  Well we know how that story ended.

Well thought out.  I was not a Jake Butt fan when there was all this talk about him in round 1 as his blocking is subpar and he is not explosive in speed however he has great hands and a good work ethic.  I can see the Giants drafting him in round 3 and getting his knee ready with rehab for the season.

If both are available who should we take?

I am more sold on those two TEs being very good NFL players than i am on those two OTs.  If available I'd take a dynamic player at a position of need and look for OT in round 2 or 3

Shoeless - that is 100% correct.  All the "I want this player" means little when the draft moves away from you.  A team has to have a diverse strategy that encompasses various draft scenarios.  One thing we forget is that they are on the clock and when all of a sudden something that seems unfathomable happens such as the 1996 draft when they thought they thought with the 5th pick, they'd get either Simeon Rice or Jonathan Ogden as they thought for sure Lawrence Phillips would be drafted before their pick.  Well, that didn't happen and they had to adjust on the fly and took Cedric Jones.  They didn't have a plan.

Unless it's a TE like OJ or David

NFL Draft, NY Giants style / Re: Players at 23

I do not super athletic super dumb players.  Their athleticism is worthless if they cannot grasp the nuances of their position at the NFL level.  Think Flowers may evidence that and possibly Adams at TE.

A third WR option can also be a TE.

Nick Saban - 5 year gig. He retires when Eli retires

I have a brilliant idea.  Find a Ceri for each of the 32 NFL teams (i.e. being a passionate fan of 1 team).  This "Ceri" will know the schemes of his team, the needs, the type of players that the team typically covets (i.e. DEs who are 6'5" 270 pounds with long arms), the type of players or positions that the team does not draft in round 1, etc.  Assemble all 32 Ceris then have them put together a mock draft that makes sense.

Like the rest of you, it drives me insane to read a mock that has for example the Giants drafting a player who either does not fit the scheme at all or has some type of strange size (i.e. strange for the Giants) that they never go there.

Guys like him or your man crush Anthony at LB would be a nice 2nd round defensive pick up for us.  I can see us going defense in round 1 and 2, especially if we get a real three down rush/pass DL in round 1.

Right now my head is spinning.  I say that then watch us go offense in rounds 1 and 2.
