Did a very solid job in both NE and Vegas by their local media accounts but I do not watch enough of either to go beyond that. Credited with improving a young Raiders OL. Available because they are without a HC. He will have his work cut out with us but at least he has shown recent performance in specific attributes we need (improving young players, plugging a porous pass blocking unit).
If you live your life as a pessimist you never really live your life at all.

I don't know anything about him, but he LOOKS like an OL coach.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

Someone who may have worked with Dabs before?  If yes, sensing a theme here.

He looks a little like Daboll...could get the two confused on the sideline...lol

The joke I told yesterday was so funny that,
apparently, HR wants to hear it tomorrow

Tommy Cutlets had better double or triple his order because Bricillo looks like he can put 'em away.

Ehhhh... not sure I'm feeling great about this one. Why has this guy not stayed with any job for more than two seasons? These hop-around-every 1-2 years guys can be red flags sometimes. Oftentimes they're either not very good or they have problematic personalities.

It also feels like a really quick hire. That's not necessarily a problem if Daboll has been thinking/planning this for weeks/months, but I just hope there was an actual comprehensive process here, and he didn't just call his buddy that he's comfortable with and likes personally. This is a very important hire, and I hope Daboll took it seriously. Given that the last O line coach (his hire) was clearly not very good and was just a guy he knew well, I can't say I'm super confident here.

But obviously I need to give him a chance. Who knows, maybe he'll be great. I have no idea. I just was hoping we'd get a more known name or someone who is in strong demand. This is too important a role for cronyism to be a big part of the process. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, but it kind of has that feel to me.

2020 - co offensive line coach, Patriots (PFF OL rank - 4th)

2021 - offensive line coach, Patriots (PFF OL rank - 9th)

2022 - offensive line coach, Raiders (PFF OL rank - 10th)

2023- offensive line coach, Raiders (PFF OL rank - 10th)

Never once coached a line outside of the top 10.

Raiders were ranked 24th the year before he came on board, 10th the year he took over

Dan,

I said I'd give him a chance, and I said maybe he'll be great.

Given how things have been with our O line and our O line coaches for a very long time now, including under the current head coach, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to want to see Bricillo deliver before I anoint him as a great hire. I don't need to do any further research to have that stance. I would say that about any O line hire at this point given the run we have had.

Really hope he is the answer.  It's hard to imagine they have missed that many times on higher round OL.

Couldn't pretend to know much about new Giants OL coach Carmen Bricillo, since I hadn't heard of him until two days ago. But I've heard very strong reviews in the past few hours from people who have worked with him.

Bricillo joined the Patriots in 2019 as an offensive assistant, spending a year learning under legendary O-line coach Dante Scarnecchia. I just spoke to Scarnecchia, who spoke very highly of Bricillo.

"He's a good guy to work with, very smart guy, good football coach, great work ethic — all those things that you put a lot of value on," Scarnecchia said.

Scarnecchia described Bricillo's coaching style as "assertive," but said Bricillo relates well to players. "I think he's a really likable guy. He's got a tough side and he's got a compassionate side and I think that's a good thing."

And no, the 75-year-old Scarnecchia has no interest in being a consultant or anything like that. He's very much retired and enjoying that.

In the 2022 season, [Bricillo] oversaw an O-line that helped protect the league's rushing champion, running back Josh Jacobs, who ran for a total of 1,653 rushing yards.

As Las Vegas' O-line coach, he was well respected in the Raiders' locker room, especially by his O-line group. This season, he was able to adapt to adversities amongst his starting front, including injuries to team captain Kolton Miller, center Andre James, and offensive tackle Thayer Munford Jr.
