Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on Today at 03:39:57 PMGettleman got outmaneuvered by Philly who moved up to take Devonta Smith and then couldn't pivot off the pre-planned approach (take a WR in the first round) to either of those two players you mentioned.

The irony is if Gettleman had just drafted Parsons (and assuming the Giants were able to manage Parsons as we as Dallas) or if DG grabbed Slater, no one would have ever talked about the Eagles outmaneuvering the Giants.

It was the outmaneuver combined with the terrible pick of Toney in the trade-down (along with squandering the first-round pick they got on Neal) that made things look so bad

Quote from: Jclayton92 on Today at 03:47:56 PMThey did that with Wilson last year. Football is cut throat I think people are adult enough to realize that and accept it for what it is a shrewd buisness decision.

Didn't they sit Wilson rather than try and get him to waive his injury guarantee?

Blame Vegas, I guess, for the "paper champions" (NOTE: lower case intended):

1st-place Rangers open as 2nd-round underdog against Hurricanes

Still makes no sense. But it will make even less sense when the series winner is decided.

Peace!

Big Blue Huddle / NY Giants 2024 NFL Draft Recap...
Last post by MightyGiants - Today at 03:48:13 PM
I always look forward to these podcasts as Carl is a wealth of both football knowledge, and he is about as inside the building as an insider can get

Carl Banks and Bob Papa are back on the mic discussing the 2024 NFL Draft and its first-round pick, Malik Nabers. They dive into his potential impact on quarterback Daniel Jones and the rest of the offense. Carl highlights the team's strategic offseason moves, including addressing critical areas such as the defensive backfield, wide receivers, and offensive line and adding depth to the running back room. The episode concludes with some NY Rangers talk, LGR

How would agents view Schoen if he tried to force a renegotiation of an injury guarantee?   While I have seen players be asked to take pay cuts or be cut, I have not witnessed a team try to renegotiate a guarantee.  There seems to be an unwritten rule (I am not fully versed; it might even be a written rule) that guarantees money in contracts.

Do you think that might hurt Schoen in future contract negotiations?

If the dc can find the right place for Simmons he could be a true game changer. He is more than a situation type player.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 08:48:01 AMSchoen talked about Nubin being a "culture setter".   This is exactly how you set a culture, calling out behavior that hurts the team rather than helping it.  I can't wait to see how he is in a couple of seasons.  I have a feeling the Giants have found themselves a true team leader.

He's won my vote with that one! If he follows through, I can't wait to see the cultural development of the defense and, in particular, the secondary.

Peace!
