BBH Baseball Board / Re: PLAYOFFS START FRIDAY
October 12, 2012, 11:17:27 AM
The failure to hit with RISP has been a huge issue with this team all year long. As a die-hard fan I find it frustrating and disturbing. I am not blaming Cashman etal., it is tough to put a team together with the pressure of having to always put a superior product on the field. There is a fundamental hitting problem. A few less homers and more doubles and singles would go a long way. Granderson struck out 28.5%, or 1.2 times pergame during the season and in this series 9 times. All those completely non-productive at bats. No advancing a runner, no sac flies, killing rallys, no taking walks to get on base. When a player hits 43hrs and only drives in 106 runs that is a problem. Am I being unrealistic to believe that a power/run producing hitter should have 3-4 rbi for every homer hit? He is Dave Kingman with a glove. Tex refuses to hit the other way. If he did the shift may end. With AROD who knows, has he just lost it, is it his eyesight, reflexes? Swisher is a FA after this season, I don't see him returning.

What made Reagan in the eyes of some a great president?
#258
This thread could become very charged. I don't think we have seen the greatest President as yet, taking nothing away from Obama and his predecessors. To me the greatest President will separate him or herself from party politics and propose legislation and ideas that will benefit the majority of people in this country. If some industries or folks have to take it on the chin for the benefit of most Americans than that is a price that needs to be paid. I'll stop here for now.

Can't see how Kirkpatrick falls to us. Isn't he the 2nd or 3rd rated CB?

If a WR is the selection Jeffrey from South Carolina would be an interesting choice.

Why trade a former 1st round pick(32) who knows the system and can play two positions for a talented but UNPROVEN rookie? I would be ok drafting Hightower to add to what we have.

and he is getting better each year.

Thank you. Yes it was a terrific catch, but each time I watch the play I am more and more amazed by the pass itself. Eli could not have been more accurate if he handed the ball to MM on the sideline. How many QB's past and present can make that throw?

Keep it as it is.

Guy Whimper redux?

The Giants obviously believe in their coaching staff and their ability to teach. JR drafts players with athletic ability, raw materials, and hands them over to the coaching staff to hewn.

I really like this guy. Watched him several times when Mich St. was on. Reminds me of David Harris, LB for the tenants.

Wasn't Cofield tendered at the second round level? If another team signs him then we receive a #2, correct?

The Giant's value board and we play D Jackson, J Macklin, and D Bryant, M Austin twice a year. He has been widely rated as the second best corner in this draft. I read where BP thought he would turn into a better pro than Peterson taken at #5. The GMEN need speed and athleticism on defense. You can't fill all your needs with one pick.

Dasher, Gruden has said live on a broadcast that he would "love to coach a Manning".
