I'm not sure I follow. You're saying anyone who is an NFL fan today doesn't care about the players? or cares less about them than fans of 30-50 years ago?

Please explain how the NFL of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s cared more about the players than the NFL of today. How did the fans back then care more? Do you think someone like Mike Webster's family would agree with you?

Jets grabbed him with the last pick of the 5th round. He was a sleeper pick I thought the Giants might be interested in. He's a big surprise and a lot of people will know the name "Stiggers" in the future

Quote from: uconnjack8 on Today at 03:39:55 PMAre you of the opinion that before Goodell, the NFL "cared" about players more?  Or were more safety conscious?
I'm of the opinion that in this day and age, we should be evolved enough as a community, particularly given all the resources available, to care now.

Edit to add: and care more about those who are retired and continue to suffer.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 03:57:49 PMHe's a project with a ton of talent. Hope our coaches can tap into that athleticism. Rare for 5th round picks to become much, so you go for athleticism and try to get the most out of them through coaching. Happened last year when we drafted a name no one ever heard of in Trey Hawkins III

I trust that Schoen, Daboll, and scouts know more than me and know what they are doing. I know that they have wanted to improve STs

24 is mid prime age for NFL RBs, so if he's a project I hope for everyone's sake that it's not a long term project.
