I remember OBJ missing a lot of his rookie years and was getting tagged as injury prone. Toney had Covid (apparently twice) and assorted nagging injuries his rookie year. Perhaps we should hold off on proclaiming someone as injury prone until it reaches several years minimum. Just seems to
me we are being  unduly rough on the kid with such a small body of work to draw conclusions on.

Fair enough. I could see Toney having a big breakout year this year potentially. He needs to actually do it though. So far, apart from a couple of fleeting glimpses, it has been nothing but talk with him.

Lord knows we desperately need one of our receivers to have a great year.

Absolutely agree with this point of view.

Toney getting Covid twice is his own fault for not getting vaccinated.
OBJ won everyone over his rookie year by starting the final 12 games after missing the first 4 and then the entire 2nd season minus a 1 game suspension. I don't recall anyone complaining about him being injury prone his first 2 seasons. When you produce at a pro bowl level from day 1 you get a bit of leeway.

Toney should not ever be compared to OBJ. He had 1 good game last year, then disappeared and has been a royal PITA. It's time for him to put up or shut up.

Getting vaccinated doesn't stop you from getting Covid as has been proven over and over and over again!  So vaxxed or not we all know now if you are exposed to it, you have a good chance of catching it.

If anything beat him up for being out and about and mixing in circles he could catch it. That I'd agree with more

The issue above that is it seems so far if you sneeze this guy gets hurt.

I agree this season he has to put up or shut up.  He has a lot to prove this season!

So I can't hold that against him.  Players in the league vaxxed caught it and missed time as well.

It is proven to reduce the chances that you will catch it from someone close to you. I am vaxed and single boosted and managed not to test positive while it spread through my house.

Your own words, reduce the chance.  As I said you still can catch it if even vaxxed.  We had a number of vaxxed players catch it.  I have vaxxed and boosted family members catch it.

Again I would more point out that he continued to put himself in a place and social surroundings to catch it as an issue.

The bad information put out there by those in the know, led to vaxx shaming and to this day people believe getting the vaccine will protect you from getting COVID. Yet the ignorant slam Joe Rogan and Aaron Rodgers. AR had to get tested every day while the vaxxed players once a week. They were getting COVID and he wasn't. Children were set back two years in reading by missing classes and although I don't love the Governor of Florida, he had it right.

Back on topic, Toney is the best Receiver on this team and him being on the field will be paramount to the success of the Offense and Daniel Jones.

As I recall over the years, players who have a lot of early issues with injuries, tend to have them throughout their career and it holds them back from reaching their potential. Todge made a point with Odell but he has had a lot of injuries over his career. I also expect Barkley to miss time.

I fully agree that this tends to be true. There are, however, examples of players who were injury plagued early in their careers and then managed to go on and still have strong careers. Keenan Allen is one such example. The point being, the repeated injuries we have been seeing for Toney both in this offseason and throughout 2021 do not preclude him from going on to have an excellent career. I know you were not saying that, but I just thought it was worth pointing out an example of a player who was banged up a lot early but managed to get over it.

Dave

To add.......

I think it also matters what kind of issues.......

Tony so far seems to be more soft tissue injuries.

These are more nagging and frustrating for players and fans.

Seems this camp we had a lot of soft tissue issues, not so many structural thank god!

Not to beat the dead horse, but soft tissue injuries in my opinion go back more to nutrition, hydration and stretching issues.

I am willing to give Toney a clean slate and judge him on his performance this season with no preconceived notions or biases (at least I will try not to have bias)

Exactly. Nobody can predict how Toney's career will go at this point and it's reasonable to have cautious expectations.

I guess you missed the part about Rodgers having to miss a game because he.... tested positive for Covid! Then we all found out that he flat out lied about his vaccination status with his "i'm immunized" BS. If he was vaccinated he would have been out of COVID protocal in time to start the game that they lost because Julian Love sucks.

Joe Rogan, please! He's another anti-vax quack who spreads untruths on his podcast.

Ron DeathSantis is not right. He is a jerk who scolds children for wearing mask.

Here is a FACT.  You are FOUR TIMES MORE LIKELY TO GET COVID if you are not vaccinated (you are also magnitudes more likely to die or require expensive hospital care if you are not vaccinated).  Knowing that FACT, go back and look at some of the terrible things that were said on this thread.

I am shutting down this thread because we agreed that Covid was not to be discussed here, and this forum was never to be used to promote misinformation about the disease or try to make matters out of men who likely killed people by using their public platform to spread DANGEROUS misinformation about a deadly disease.
