Quote from: T200 on Today at 02:52:52 PMHe was a good Giant and I bear no ill-will towards him. If he succeeds elsewhere, even with a rival, I'm happy for him.

If we can post every failure of Toney's and he was barely here, I can only imagine what we're going to see every time Barkley comes up short.

I hear you.   I can only speak for myself, but I will not be celebrating if he struggles nor will I be upset if he succeeds.   There are some players I don't like, like Aaron Rodgers, who I like to see struggle and there are players I am happy to see them enjoying success, like Purdy.  Barkley just doesn't move the needle for me.   That said, I am dreading the Barkley hype train leasing up to the Giants VS Eagles games, as it just seems forced by the media.

Quote from: T200 on Today at 01:21:17 PMAnticipating all the Barkley threads from the "I don't care" contingent  :-??  :suspious:

I am in the don't care camp, but I think you're correct.   I think their are two aspects to this.  There is Barkley the person and Barkley the asset.   As a person, his success or failure doesn't phase me because he is no longer on the team (for some reason, I never really warmed up to the guy, even though he carried himself well).   There is also Barkley the asset and his success and failure reflects on Joe Schoen and the decisions he made.  So I could see that aspect being discussed.

Quote from: Philosophers on Today at 09:14:22 AMHow are you feeling today Rich?

Thank you for asking me.  I am still sore.  I go to the dentist today to see about my broken tooth.   My right foot is in a walking boot with two broken bones according to my podiatrist.   Ed is nice enough to drive me to Paramus tomorrow (haven't figured out how to drive with my right foot in a walking boot)to see an Orthopedic doctor for my right hip and lower back pain.

It's funny, I was interviewed by my insurance company yesterday.  After the woman heard my description of the accident and the injuries I sustained, she remarked that she was surprised by how upbeat I was.   It's sort of funny, that messed with me a bit as I wondered if maybe I shouldn't be so upbeat.   Then I realized I was inspired by my boss.  She's had to deal with more than her fair shared of adversity and she never let it get her down.   I had admired that about her and I guess it inspired me to do the same.

I am of two mindsets on Miller.

1)  I like his measurables and his back story.

2)  I am mindful that between the college portal and general college scouting, if he had a natural talent, he would have been playing for a big program sooner than he did.  Admittedly, there is some uncertainty here, but you would think his backstory would have included turning down scholarship offers at some point.

My fitness watch has a fall feature.   My boss volunteered years ago to be the contact since she is always on call.   My watch alerted her that I had suffered an incident and sent her my location.  She texted me if I was okay, only to get the reply from me that I was hit by a car.   It was so surreal for her she wondered if it was some sort of AI thing.

Quote from: Gman329 on May 20, 2024, 08:55:02 AMDamn, Rich, that's terrible! How did she not see you?  More importanly, how are you feeling today and what do the DRs say?

My right hip is one big bruise where I landed on it.   Since I am on crutches for the broken right foot it's not too much of an issue.   Other than that just some soreness from the road rash.   As Danny Glover said in Leathal Weapon, I am getting too old for this sh1t.   Still trying to nail down the dentist appointment for my broken off front tooth

Quote from: bighitterdalama on May 20, 2024, 08:04:10 AMRich, so sorry to hear this. Here is hoping that all turns out well. I will text/call you today (Monday).

Text would be better.   I have a follow up for the broken foot this morning and still working on my appointment with my dentist

Going home on crutches the fracture is a significant one.  My hip is just bruised.   The doc said it's the toe, but it's the joint in the foot.  I might need surgery.   So I will have a busy couple of days visiting the dentist and the foot doctor.  Other than that, I should be okay.

Well I have a broken toe that I need to have splinted and see a podiatrist because the doc says they don't always heal well.

Now I am going to get a hip xray because he does not trust how stoic I am about the foot.

Waiting for X-rays but I think I will be okay.  I am not going to lie, it's pretty scary to have a car accelerate toward you and not being able to get out of the way.   I guess all things considered, I was lucky it wasn't more serious.

Quote from: Sem on May 19, 2024, 05:21:37 PMDamn, Rich. I hope you're ok and have no serious injuries. As you know sometimes issues can pop up after the "excitement" fades away. Hoping for no hidden concerns, and that you are able to come back from this quickly and without pain.

I was able to limp/walk to the ambulance.

Sitting in the ER.   Damaged my front tooth and I am very sore.  I was in a cross walk.  A woman came out of a side street with a stop sign and hit me.   I was in front of her and she was speeding up.  I was thrown on to the hood and when she stopped I was thrown into the street.   I was just a block from home.

In a sense, we sort of have heard the police's side of the story. They released an official police report detailing their account of the incident, and they brought charges against Scheffler. To me that qualifies as their "side" of the story.

As far as people auto-assuming things that suit an agenda, I know where you're coming from there, and I try not to always auto-assume the worst about cops until I have enough information where I feel that view is firmly backed up by facts. What I would say though is Scheffler has a pretty pristine reputation and is universally considered a great guy, a family guy, a person of faith, etc. He is the last person anyone would consider a trouble maker. While none of that guarantees he did not step over the line in this incident, his reputation probably earns him the benefit of the doubt, which, quite frankly, everyone accused of a crime in this country is entitled to.

Jeff,

That was very well said  :ok:   A man spends a lifetime building/earning a reputation and that reputation should mean something in times like this. To assume this man is guilty is just plain wrong.
