Athletic prowess is a good and valuable thing, but it's not the same as talent.  I wonder if they had RAS in his day how Jerry Rice would have scored.

There's a special room in Hell for those people. It's next to the room for people who drive slow in the fast lane.

My favorite is homeowners who let the community newspaper pile up and rot at the end of the driveway.

This was such a cool story that I used it in 10th grade English class as a current events report.

But I really got a kick (excuse the pun) of Pat Summerall's pronunciation of Tampa's kicker:

"IG-WAYYY...BUEEE-KAYYY ... Donald"

Priceless!

Thanks for the share, Rich @MightyGiants !

Quote from: T200 on May 28, 2024, 02:00:13 PMI can honestly say there is ONLY one thing on that list that annoys me:

Poor drivers.

None of that other stuff bothers me in the least.

This isn't a political statement: I'm not annoyed by the politicians themselves. I'm annoyed at the collective voters who can't see past party lines to hold all of the people WE voted into office accountable.

At the moment, I am not a big fan of bad drivers either  :hurt:

The Front Porch / My Rant: Littering
Last post by squibber - May 29, 2024, 02:24:51 PM
It seems like more people are Littering these days. It's annoying and an eye sore. I'm the type of person who would pick up the tiniest piece of paper on my property.

I live in a nice suburb. When I walk to the main road from my side street I often see beer cans, drink cups and bottles and once in a while a hard liquor bottle. The on ramp to the nearby expressway is even worse.

A month ago I was parking in a shopping plaza. Apparently the person parked near me took a product out of a box she just bought. She opened her car door and flung the empty box out of her car. She could have easily done that outside the store and throw the box in a garbage can but she didn't.

Where are people's pride? It is so tacky to create this blight. They should double or triple the littering fine.

If I was Indian, I would have a tear running down my cheek. Haha.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 25, 2024, 07:38:19 AMInteresting that the Rams, whom I suspect any observant/unbiased fan would consider one of the smarter and more forward-thinking franchises in the league, are last in this.

Additionally the Ravens, Dolphins, 49ers, Texans, Bills, and Bengals, all of whom have been pretty successful recently, are in the 19th to 30th range.

Meanwhile the Colts (number one), Jets, Giants, Saints, and Falcons are all in the top 10.

At first glance at least, it's hard to see much of a positive correlation between average RAS score and team success.

Rams rely on other methods to evaluate athleticism, like on-field tracking. Helped them find Kupp and Nacua.

It shows that we have athleticism and speed based on a younger version of themselves after spending a month preparing for the combine. Few players can match their combine scores, as they are heavier and stronger. The real measurement should be between players' ears and the size of the heart (motivation, study habits, teachable, innate ability to read others on the fly, and personal desire to be the greatest)
