It's always a little weird when fines given out for plays that weren't even flagged on the field. I feel like every game I watch these days is flag after flag, often for pretty ticky-tack stuff. It's odd to me that a ball carrier (in this case barkley) is being fined over 20 grand for something that the refs apparently didn't think was an issue during the game. It's not like they weren't watching him. If they weren't then that's problematic in and of itself.
The flags help limit the stuff the NFL wants to legislate out of the game, but the fines do the real heavy lifting. 15 yards may not move the needle in the heat of the moment, but $20k will make the players think twice.
