I guess experienced guys with HC experience will be tempted by a co-ordinator gig at the Cowbooys as, if they make a decent fist of it, when Jerrah finally gets trigger happy and fires McCarthy, they'll be in the frame.

I think there is some risk here (Think Jason Garrett). Zimmer was last a defensive coordinator in 2013, and last actively coached in the NFL in 2021. Coaching comebacks don't always work out
