Big Blue Huddle / Re: DeAndre Hopkins?

No. Too old, too much money. Need to try our luck in the draft.

Good read as always Ceri. Just like cam Erving in the guard review we're on the same wavelength regarding Preston Smith. He's on my wish list but I have this nagging feeling he'll be taken late in the 1st considering the lack of tradition 4-3 DEs in the draft this year. Is it safe to assume from their absences that you don't think much of Za'darius Smith and Anthony Chikillo?

Schwartz being signed last year is what makes me believe Pugh stays at RT. If the plan is to get bigger and more physical inside then that's not Pugh's game. He needs to stay outside where his athleticism and technique can be put to better use. I said it 2 years ago when I first saw him play and I'll say it again here. I look at Pugh I see a more athletic version of Doug Riesenberg. Not the biggest or strongest but a rock solid OT

Good read as always Ceri. Like I said in the Tackles thread I'm surprised you started off with the dancing elephants. You normally start with skill positions players then make your way to the guys in the trenches.

We appear to be on the same wavelength regarding Erving. He's the guy I want at 40 if we don't take an O-lineman in the 1st (and I hope we don't. IMO Pugh is a tackle not a guard). I wouldn't have a problem with Tomlinson but I question whether he can play LG or for that matter if he can play for us since we ask all our interior guys to pull.

Doc beat me to my one and only question. Since you don't like Jackson as a prospect, I guess it's safe to say you think even less of his linemate Matias. Or since you have so much on your plate with getting these previews done you forgot him?

Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next installment, which I'm guessing is centers

Ah the signs of spring. Warmer weather, blooming flowers, growing leaves, grills being dusted off and fired up and of course Ceri's pre-draft positional reports. As always my friend a good read. I look forward to these every year. I didn't expect you to start with the dancing elephants (R.I.P. George Young) but I'm glad you did. I'm not part of the "OT in the 1st or bust" crowd, but for the sake of adding quality depth, and the looking towards the future since Beatty is now in his 30s, I can see one in the 2nd or 3rd.

I have just one question regarding Donovan Smith. I read his prospect profile on Big Blue View a couple days ago and the writer suggests he doesn't fit us as an OT but could be a plug and play OG. Do you agree with that assessment or do you see him as an OT only?

I patiently await future previews, particularly OG, LB (pure LBs not tweeners) and WR

Good read as always Ceri. I was patiently awaiting this review because I was curious what you thought of Mosely. With just about everyone touting either Lewan, Martin, Donald, Evans or Ebron, I think I'm the only one that wants Mosely with our 1st rounder. I'm a little surprised you think Shazier is possible at 12 but not Mosely. I guess because of the injuries

Lache Seastrunk and Ka'deem Carey are conspicuous in their absence from your preview. I take you don't like what either bring to the table or you believe they don't fit what you think the new offense will be

Good stuff Ceri. I agree that is a bad year for DEs. MG beat me to noting Sam's absence. I guess you see him more as a 3-4 OLB

Good read as always Ceri. Looking forward to your DE and LB reviews. Judging from their absence in your review is it safe to say you don't think much of Tennesee's Daniel McCullers and Johnson's teammate Ego Ferguson?

Great write up as usual Ceri. Sua Filo is my favorite OG in this draft but there's no way he drops to 43. Would have no problem with Jackson in the 2nd or 3rd for that matter. What's your opinion of unheralded Bama RG Anthony Steen?

Ahh the signs that spring has finally come. Warmth, blossoming trees an flowers and of course Ceri's positional previews to wet our appetites for the draft. Good read as always. Looking forward to future reviews.

I'm obviously in the minority but I'm hoping Ebron is not our 1st rounder. I've never thought much of these new breed TEs that are basically blown up WRs that can't block. If he is the pick of course I'll cheer for him to succeed but personally I'd go in another direction at 12

No love for Marcus Lattimore? As someone to stash on IR this year and then see what he is in 2014? Or do you think his knee injury makes him too much of a risk?

No better way to spend an early Sunday morning than reading a positional preview and then the morning paper. I remember a line from your Senior Bowl preview where you pretty much said Reese needed to stop dicking around with the OL and get serious about protecting our franchise player. It put a smile on my face because I so want to see a return of the dominance this OL had in 08 and 09.

Unless we do a slight trade up I don't see Warmack or Cooper dropping to us.

I love Warford's size and power, but I agree he doesn't fit what we do offensively (though I still wouldn't mind him in the 2nd). He's like a a stronger, nastier Ron Stone.

Again we are of like minds. I've loved Barrett Jones since I 1st noticed him at LG (or was it LT?) when they absolutely embarrassed Texas for the national championship a few years back. He's the personification of a TC Giants lineman. Only question is will he make to our 3rd round pick?

OK. NOW the countdown to the draft has officially begun. As always Ceri, year after year yous positional previews don'tdisappoint.

I see you're as big a fan of Hankins as I am. The consenus of most fans on different boards is for Sheldon Richarsson. For me it's a tie between Hankins and Jesse Williams if we go DT in the 1st(in a trade down, not at 19). Personally I've always been skeptical 3-techs who are supposed to be pass rushing demons. I'd rather have a plugger to pair with Joseph and be insurance in case he's not re-signed. Is it safe to assume that since you didn't mention Jenkins' linemate Kwame Geathers that you don't think much of him?

Good stuff Ceri. This was the preview I was waiting for since unlike many who believe we're good inside with Boothe & Petrus, I think an upgrade in talent is needed. Was hoping you'd give an opinion on Osemele & Washington but since you don't see them as prototypes I understand. An omission of Konz suggests either there's going to be a center preview or you don't see him as a fit either.

I've watched Silatolu's near 13 minute highlight reel & not only am I intrigued but would have no problem if his name was called at 32 or in a trade down.Heck if Glenn falls & he's the pick I'll do backflips. I watch this kid & I think he has Shawn Andrews type ability
