I hated losing Feliciano. I thought he was that player with an edge that helped other OL find their inner nastiness. All year the Giants OL lacked that grit and toughness to impose their will on opposing defenses.

Quote from: Trench on January 29, 2024, 10:10:20 AMOur issue is the coaches. It's obvious these players did well in different situations. Yet our line allows RB to consistently be hit in the backfield. I believe our line is clueless to stunts and adjustments and that is coaching.

I 100% agree with you. I have said this in the past that OL coach and OC have a disconnect and they are not able to get on the same page. The level of execution has been terrible for many years now. I am almost sure once Neal is let go from the Giants he will become a high level player. Execution begins with coaching.

Only thing I would want from the Bills is Josh Allen and Stephon Diggs. Other than that I want nothing to do with that coaching staff.

It's not the players it's the coaching. It's always been the coaching. If you can't get the players on the same page it's the coaching. OL is all about preparation, not having backups ready that's coaching. The Giants haven't had a good offensive line coach in a long long time. The Giants need to find the best and make him an offer. Go to the 49ers or Eagle poach their offensive line coach.

You can find running backs anywhere. It's better for the Giants to spend on OL, DL and WR. Do not spend 12 million on a running back. The year 2007 the Giants had 3 capable running backs on the team. SB is going to get hurt and miss maybe 3-4 weeks a year let's face it he is injury prone. Better off having running back by committee. If one gets hurt next one steps in. The Giants need better coaching, they have terrible coaching. If someone gets hurt this team is done there is no next man up. There is no preparation for others it's awful.
To give Barkley a new contract or even bring him back on a tag. I wouldn't do it.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May all your loved ones and Giant wishes come true.

Would love to see 49ers-Dolphins Super Bowl.

The 49ers have an offensive coordinator role they don't have an OC the giants would do good in hiring Chris Foerster. By the way if we can move on from Daboll I'm all in on that too.

Talk about disaster and unpreparedness of injuries by coach and coaches.

At what point do people start questioning the coaching. The way I see it is the that the OL is probably the part football that it is most imperative that they work as a team. It seems to me the coaching is absolutely the problem here. I have seen regression and I have seen the OL play above average. Which leads me to believe that there is a consistency problem and that to me is coaching. The lack of building off good performances only to fall flat in their faces time and again. The Giants need to get better coaching. Dump Kafka and get the OL coach from SF to be the OC. To me that's the disconnect Kafka and Johnson. I still don't think Daboll is a good coach outside of the first 6-7 games to his Giants career he has been a disaster. He can't even come up with a plan to compete vs division rivals.

We need a better plan for the OL. I hate to say this but the Giants do not have an identity. That is usually an extension of the coaches.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 06, 2023, 01:55:03 PMJustin Herbert won OROY behind the 32nd ranked O line (PFF rankings) in the league. Numerous QBs have played materially better than Jones behind bad O lines.

I'm not saying the O line doesn't need work. Clearly it does. But it's easier to draft guards than QBs. They can also be signed in free agency more readily. Further, if we draft a QB, he doesn't have to play as a rookie. We have 6 picks after the first round, and multiple ones can be used on O line. If they are looking for a new starting QB, it is unlikely that they get a better chance than this next draft given the situation they're in and the robustness of the incoming QB class. If (and only if) they are high on one of the QBs who is available to them, I think they should take him, and I am pretty sure they will. That doesn't mean they'll be neglecting the O line.

Justin Herbert, come on people try working with with an atrocious O-line and no receivers and an injured RB. No play makers for TV e defense to even worry about. Outside of the Cardinals game Daboll didn't even use Jaylin Hyatt.

Herbert has a bad O-line, no one mentions that he has receivers, TE and running back.

No QB could have done with what the Giants have been selling.  They have no contingency plans. You know how important Andrew Thomas is to this team. Just look at 49ers. Without Trent they are 0-3. Trent is to 49ers what Thomas is to the Giants. That's thy e way it is without him the QB was going to suffer as well as the RB unless you have a good Back up ready to replace your best OL. The Giants didn't.

This team needs a lot of assets. I would trade down in the draft. Pick up a QB in the lower part of round one or early second and possibly pick up a O-lineman or a receiver in the first.

48-22
38-7
40-0
49-17

You trust Daboll will do better? This guy is Joe Judge 2.0. He might be worse. That 6-1 start is basically saving him.

I don't think any QB can work under this conditions. It's a terrible situation and yes Shoen is part of the blame. They were selling us the off season moves they all fell apart. The players with injuries and quite frankly they got worse. Afte that 6-1 start Daboll has been trash. The team doesn't have next man up ready. It's an awful team. You can blame Gettleman but Shoen and Daboll do get now the majority of the blame. It's their team. You had a draft free agency and the results have been terrible.

I don't think QB play is down, the defenses might be catching up.
