Please...   I have a link in the "football Doc fears and ACL for DJ" thread where a team of doctors looked at the film and saw the ACL injury occur, so I am hardly alone.

Still, it's quite concerning the Giants medical staff failed to detect the ACL injury and sent DJ back on the field.
That's what I said.

Quote from: Gmo11 on November 06, 2023, 08:44:15 AMYou anticipate them winning a lot of games with Devito starting? Honestly they should let him play out the string and likely lose every game. 2 wins might be enough to get them Caleb Williams. But they certainly won't be lower than 3 so they could easily trade from there or sit tight and take whoever they like best from Maye or McCarthy or Penix and still keep their picks.
Whatever QB they pick, looking the part will be the deciding factor. I wouldn't look any further than McCarthy.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 06, 2023, 08:40:57 AMI re-watched the play that ended the first quarter, multiple times. It's pretty clear that's when DJ tore his ACL.
So you know better watching film than the medical staff examining him? If that's the case they should definitely be fired.

Having had knee problems since I was a teen, I am pretty familiar with having a knee examination.  When one tears a ligament, there is telltale instability when they perform those tests.  It has nothing to do with running; it's how the knee responds when you tug and pull in various directions.  With the ACL torn, there would have been clear-cut instability, which a competent medical people would have detected.  Jones can run after the ACL, but the instability would have still been there.  Jones is lucky he wasn't hurt worse.
Then the tear if there is one would have occurred when he went back in.

Daboll said he was running on the sideline. Maybe he should have been running backwards. Maybe it's not an ACL. Maybe it's an MCL. Maybe it was partially torn or strained and the final damage occurred when he planted it.

An intangible that I liked was he didn't sulk on the bench like DJ does or visualize on his own like TT. He was eager to get back out there and was discussing with his Coaches. That shows me his enthusiasm, intestinal fortitude and resilience.

They won't fire him in season and won't make a decision until it's discussed after the season. As long as he doesn't lose the locker room, he will likely be back. The only thing now is that keeping DJ and not drafting a QB would be a monumental mistake and I don't see Schoen hanging on. Do the owners want Daboll to groom the next QB?

We really don't know what was discussed about DJ the past two years and what side Daboll was on behind closed doors. If he didn't have doubts then he is not the guru everyone expected. Durability shouldn't have been the primary concern.

Quote from: Jaime on November 06, 2023, 01:23:21 AMDeVito will improve with Reps. :ok:
I agree, Jaime. I don't see him as a long term starter in this league but they are grooming him to be the backup. He settled down and wasn't that bad. There were two dropped passes and one pick was on Slayton. The short pass to Hyatt went 55 yards and both Jones and Tyrod have missed Hyatt more than once.

He missed a key crossing route and there had to be others he missed but he hung in there on a few and waited for the Receiver to get open.

He actually saw WDR in the corner of the end zone wide open and I'm not convinced that DJ would have checked down on that.

Several of the sacks were on him but that comes with experience. DJ doesn't get it after five years.

Like I said at camp, not ready for prime time but he got better each and every day and it looks like they can develop him into a decent backup. I don't want TT back because he too gets injured too often at his age.

The Giants will draft a QB and Tommy will wind up on the PS again if he improves.

It will be interesting to see who tue starter will be next week in Dallas.

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on November 05, 2023, 06:03:02 PMThe Jones deal has simply set this franchise back years.

The giants and a lot of fans, not all but a lot got drunk on a stripped back game plan, a favourable schedule and middling production. To that end, the Giants guaranteed 40mil a year to a guy that cant stay on the field and when he is on the field, he cannot consistently produce. They could have bridged a QB and built up in other areas of need (which is almost everywhere).

It's an awful deal, with an awful outcome. There's no other way to slice it.
Quarterback Hell.
