Quote from: Philosophers on March 29, 2024, 01:57:58 PMReally?  I thought Nicks was an outlier as he had I think 10 inch hands.  Do QBs actually have hands that big?

I think JJ's hands were the smallest of the 6 QBs.
Nicks was measured at 10.5 and some touted at 11. Soft hands too. Poof!

I think they prefer ten but nine is acceptable.

Big Blue Huddle / The 2024 QB Class
March 29, 2024, 12:23:03 PM
I remember several drafts where there were 4+ QB prospects that all had the look and potential to be be a Franchise QB, but I don't remember agreeing with almost the entire class. This class has at least six QBs and possibly seven who could emerge as outstanding QBs. Of course history shows that's very unlikely. I do believe the destination is one of the determining factors.

There will likely be six QBs taken in the first round and it sounds unprecedented. Penix is going to be one of them. Just where, remains to be seen.

I don't believe I can rank them. I will say that if I had my druthers I would hope the Giants draft Drake Maye and sit him a year. I would not be disappointed in McCarthy or Nix. The best talent is Calib Williams but I don't see him as a fit in NY. I also would be intrigued to see Daniels in Blue.

I would be shocked if the Giants didn't come away with one of the top six QBs in this draft.

Quote from: londonblue on March 28, 2024, 11:37:27 AMAs Mighty notes elsewhere this draft has more QBs of interest and more teams in need than in the last couple of years. This inevitably increases media and fan interest.

That means more words. Lots of opinions. Lots of conflicting points of view. Complete contradictions (eg the Giants are simultaneously set at QB and done with our QB).

Each day more and more smoke rolls across the football universe, obscuring reality from view. There are articles, tweets, tv sound bites and pod casts/video hot takes supporting every opinion imaginable (and a few so wild they might better belong on a satirical late night comedy show).

We will get to see the reality in four weeks time. Until then we all have our opinion which is great providing we don't try to pass it off as fact. FWIW I think it is 90% likely we take either a QB or WR in R1 but I still see a 10% chance of a trade back with a CB being our pick...so watch us draft a tackle!
Or a Cornerback.

Quote from: LennG on March 27, 2024, 08:24:08 PMMy son was brought up as a Modern Orthodox Jew in that he kept all KOsher laws, he kept the Sabbath, and everything else that is associated with his religion.
So what does he do, goes out and marries the first shiska ( Jewish word for a non-Jewish female). To say my wife wasn't happy is putting it mildly. So almost 15 years and 4 grandchildren letter, things have changed dramatically. We all make concessions and attitudes change. Would we still wish he would have married in his faith, yes, but it is what it is and we accepted that. What choice did we have, sever all relationships? Not a chance.
Technically, because the mother isn't of Jewish faith, none of the children are considered Jewish either. We still love them all though.
He knew in his heart that Doris would accept her and them or he would have made other choices. Other men and women faced with that situation or of an  interracial relationship may have either broken it off or become estranged. Ultimately love prevailed.

I agree with Valentine, Lenn. I don't think Penix will be there and Bo Nix is their best shot by drafting up from the Second Round. I also don't see the compatibility with Penix. But I like the rest of the draft. If they go WR at six, they will likely be picking Pratt and I'm not completely against that. It's worth a mid second round gamble.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 27, 2024, 08:45:46 PMHow motivated do you think they really were to sign Barkley? They didn't tag him, and there were plenty of reports he was going to hit the free agent market. I would not say they made any real effort to sign him. I think it was a total waste to not trade him. "We were still trying to win" in the context of what this team was in 2023 is an absurd explanation.
If I can touch on this... remember that the RB market was depressed last season and there was a reasonable expectation that they might be able to reach a mutual agreement which from the perspective of Management and Ownership was in their favor. The shallow RB class changed that market along with teams that needed a two way back. Other teams see the Giants situation differently than some of us do. Some of us see Saquon as a rapidly aging RB who is in his decline do to injuries and who struggles in the passing game and in Pass Protection. The Eagles saw a poor Offensive Line and a Shell Shocked QB who had an adverse effect on the performance of SB.

So the situation was viewed differently last season to this season and from the perspective of a team looking to round out their Roster to remain relevant and get back to becoming a Playoff contender.

Just my two cents.
