Florida State pushed out of the playoff due to hip drop tackle

I was hoping they would pass on Jones and sign Geno. He signed with Seattle for far less than Jones.

Jones was a crap QB who made something with his legs, and I knew once he had a contract they would throttle down the runs. They kind of didn't care when he was on the last year of his deal.

They were calling Jones Vanilla Vick, but really he was RG3 all over again, making plays with a gimmick offense and bombing out the next season

This is too depressing to contemplate

QB is the position that will elevate the offense more than any other.

We would need to draft at least two OL to upgrade the line
We could draft WR but who is throwing to him?
RB? Forget it
And keep in mind, any OL or WR can bust just as well as any QB. Also, the list of probowl WR and OL are dotted with numerous 2nd and third day picks. QB? Not so much.

One QB will give you more bang for the buck

Quote from: SUPERSEE on November 27, 2023, 03:53:24 PMI disagree .. he's shown as much ability from anyone at this point in career .. he processes quickly and has confidence to throw down field. he also throws guys open and not into collision like #8 does often. let him learn .. he'll be a middle of the pack qb like all the rest not named Mahomes burrow hurt etc etc

He also scored the princely sum of 10 points on short fields and fumbled a handoff. I don't think his processing can be considered "quick".

Actually, Daniels was great his first year at ASU. It was the other two years that were terrible.

And yes, Daniels going from PAC-12 to SEC is moving up in competition versus Nix moving down from the SEC to the PAC-12.

Okay, you've convinced me, McCarthy it is

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 27, 2023, 01:16:31 PMI was hoping Tommy would have shown some improvement this last game, although BB was disguising coverages and blitz packages. It was a lot for an inexperienced QB to absorb. Also Kafka didn't do him any favors. It almost seemed like they want him to experience all of it. Saquon standing on the sidelines was surreal. Man, if they can teach him the TT quick release, it's a game changer. He just may not have the ability but we shall see.

It was the height of irony that none of Belichik's schemes resulted in an INT, but one bobbled handoff and that's the end of an opening drive score. Not really the turnover you expected.

I was kind of surprised that Belichik's record against rookie QBs was not as high as you would think, it's was in the high .500s

Hey man, sometimes making the most of your opportunity and the confidence that builds when you do so makes all the difference in the world. DeVito doesn't appear to have the goods and sure, the defense really won the last two games, but those were some sick throws he made to Hyatt.

Maybe you don't want all the other teams know you're desperate for a QB in the draft.
#56
At this rate, he going to be paying more coaches than Mark Davis

Quote from: Philosophers on November 27, 2023, 01:56:08 PMHonestly I don't see much difference between DJ and Tommy.  Make some occasional throws.  Get sacked a lot.  Throw too short on 3rd down.  DJ runs better.
DeVito made three stick throws in one game. I don't think Jones has done that in one season. Definitely none this season. The fact that DeVito threw downfield to Hyatt multiple times even if he wasn't wide open already makes him a better QB.

Quote from: Philosophers on November 27, 2023, 09:52:54 AM3 is a lot different than 4.

Who would the Giants beat?  I dont see anyone.  They gave up 6 sacks to the worst team in the NFL.
Packers, Rams, and Saints are world beaters? I can easily see the Giants taking two from there

I'm warming up to Nix a little. I also remember his Auburn days, so it's not easy to get on board. But it's pretty common for QBs to have moment where the lightbulb turns on. So I shouldn't begrudge Nix for his Auburn days.

But man... he was pretty bad

Quote from: Philosophers on November 27, 2023, 01:26:48 AM4 QBs will not go in top 6.  I'd bet on it.
I'd bet 3 go in the top five. I'd also bet the Giants will win a couple of more games and possibly fall out of the top 10.
