Then there is this

"Congressman demands the NFL stop putting playoff games on streaming services like NBC's Peacock: Fans don't deserve 'to be squeezed even further by greedy corporations'

Fortunately, I do have Peacock, but don't they offer a one-week trial? If so you can sign up, watch the game and then cancel.

If not, you're all invited to my house, but you will have to watch on a puny 32" TV.   :o  :o  :o  :o

A true oldie but still a goodie

A blonde gets on a plane bound for Chicago and leaves her seat in economy to sit in first class. When the flight attendant tells her she has to go back to economy because she didn't pay for a first class ticket, the blonde says, "I'm blonde, I'm beautiful and I'm going to Chicago and I'm staying right here in this seat." The flight attendant and the blonde repeat this process a few times before the attendant gets the pilot. The same thing happens to the pilot when he tries to talk to the blonde. He goes back to the cockpit and begins to radio the tower for assistance when the co-pilot asks him to wait just a second. "I'm married to a blonde," he tells the captain. "I speak blonde, let me handle it." He goes up to the blonde, whispers in her ear and she said, "Oh, I'm so sorry," before getting up and going back to her economy seat. "How did you do that?" his colleagues ask him. "Easy. I told her first class isn't going to Chicago."

A man is driving down the road with a bunch of penguins in the back seat of his car. The police stop him and tell the man that he cannot drive down the road with that many penguins in his car, it's illegal. They inform him that he needs to take the penguins to the zoo right away. He is pulled over again the following day by the same police officer when the officer notices all the penguins still in the man's car. He says to the man, "I thought I told you to take those penguins to the zoo!" to which the man replies, "I did. Today I'm taking them to the movies."

The word "postmortem," according to Merriam-Webster, can mean "an analysis or discussion of an event after it is over," or it can refer to an autopsy. A look back at the 2023 New York Giants probably falls somewhere in between those two definitions. 2023 was the Giants' most disappointing season since...2017. Or maybe since 2021. You know things are bad when you only have to go back two years and six years to find other seasons as brutal. To look at the bright side, though, at least this time the Giants' coaching situation isn't in shambles...oh, wait.

Anyway, you have to diagnose the disease before you can cure it, so let's go. We'll use Pro Football Focus grades for the team and for individual players, and supplement them with some statistics.

We are the worst overall team even though we finished with a better record that 4 other teams.

I'm not ready to give up on him as of yet. I can't go down lists but he does seem to have enough good qualities to warrant another year and hopefully improve the team. What worries me the most is that the entire team wasn't ready to play on just too many occasions. There were games where we didn't even show up and that goes to the HC.

Winning establishes a different culture. Players hated TC until he showed them that was the way to win. Then, all of a sudden. they all bought into his shpeal. In fact, you probably could go back to Parcels with the same thing. Winning makes coaches geniuses and players believe in it.
So let's stick with Daboll another year and see what happens.

Last coach that got BB's blessing was some ST coach named Judge. I wonder how that went?

Dave

A friend just sent me these 2 trailers. one from the original show and one for the 25th anniversary

It's funny, I had completely forgotten about Tony's mother as a great character.

I used to listen to Mike and the Mad Dog on our local radio WFAN while I was working. When any new season of the Sopranos started, all they talked about every week, instead of sports, was the new episode. I kind of knew what was going to happen before I ever watched. So many people discussed every episode it was unbelievable. They analyzed everything from what Tony said to who, what he wanted 'his crew' to do, Junior, and who was due to get whacked.

It was a fun ride and basically revolutionized what we watched on TV from then on.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on January 10, 2024, 08:07:00 PMHard to play it anymore since it brings back so many memories. I get too sentimental and regret my life's decisions. My wife and I were so in love at that time. She looked at me with adoring eyes, and I right back. We had 4 kids back to back to back and money was tight. Then I started climbing the corporate ladder and started putting in 70 hour work weeks combined with travel to the far east, Europe, practically every major city in America, etc. We grew apart and my work was my life and we grew apart as she started her education ending up as a Nurse Practitioner, and me a retired old coot. I'll regret if for the rest of my life. Now my kids are grown and half my grandkids are grown...all the weddings, the funerals, the table games, the laughs, the hard times...are but a memory that I hang on to  :(

The good old days

Christmas present from my kids a couple weeks ago...one of my kids and one of my grandchildren (a little glare on them from the glass in the picture frames. Unfortunately, one of my grandkids and great grandson weren't in the picture. I'll post a separate one of them

My kids now (I lost my oldest son right after his 20th birthday...devastating). 4-year captain of the lacrosse team, 2-yr captain of the football team, and a loving kid with a huge heart and big ambitions

GREAT, GREAT Pix Ric.

We also get sentimental around the end of the year. We usually start by looking over our wedding pix, then moving on to when our kids were born, and then on to their Bar Mitzvah stuff. In fact, while looking this last time, I just couldn't believe I was so thin, my darling wife so young and gorgeous, and me with a full head of brown hair. Oh, the good old days. I don't have any of these pix on my computer so it is hard to post any. I'll see if I can scan some and give you a peek ar us in the younger days.

Quote from: londonblue on January 11, 2024, 10:09:42 AMMy only question is who is the 4th head on the modern football Mount Rushmore alongside LT, Brady and Bill?

You have a GOAT defensive player
A GOAT QB
A GOAT HC
For me, it would be Jerry Rice, the GOAT WR.
