Remember when Trump, in his attempt to shift blame to China as his sole motivation, declared the virus came from a lab?  He had no proof and to date there still is no smoking gun.  If you science believers remember, the CCP conveniently ordered the lab to be scrubbed.  Immediately after Trump made his baseless claim, a letter was issued declaring the 'scientz' showed the virus came from nature.  People ate it up and called themselves scientifically based.  So proud are the Left of their sheepish worship of science and of administrators like Peter Daszak who actually penned that letter and was the primary individual responsible for securing the funding of the Wuhan Lab's gain of function research.  How did the scientific community, who claimed at the time that there was little known about the virus and a lot of speculation, so easily and immediately assert that the virus came from nature?  Well the scientific community didn't....the NIH and WHO did...you know...the science officials

There may not be proof that the virus came from a lab.  Unlike some who claim to know science, I know what proof means.  But the opposite claim that it most definitely did NOT come from a lab is based on no evidence, way too quickly declared and losing traction post Trump rapidly.

A make some people very rich in doing it.

Following the money would seem obvious wouldn't it?

Was there ever a war like Afghanistan and Iraq?

CamelBak, Arc-Teryx, Smith Optics, Oakley, Merrell, Salomon, Patagonia.

Recognize any of these brands?  I;ve seen all of their logos on troops in the middle east.  When's the last time you saw a photo of a WW2 or Vietnam War GI with a 'Nike' swoosh on his combat boots?

From what I have read, 18,000 contractors including mercenaries will remain in the country. So maybe, the US will continue to prop up the country by proxy while at the same time making it appear to the American public that the US is finally out of this mess. This would make Biden look good I think.

Yeah, the paramilitary contractor paradigm now allows countries to wage war unofficially.

I thought it was September 11th. Trump had a a May 1st. deal with the Taliban.

Yeah you are correct.  Biden pushed to 9/11.

This is unfortunate and a typical move by the intelligence agencies to request an extension which is nothing more than a stalling tactic to buy time to cook up a reason to stay.

Biden sounds serious about leaving Afghanistan.  He should have said effective immediately instead of May 1st but I'll take it assuming he can hold on.  Word on the street is the Pentagon is melting down.

They're already playing up the "American Troops will die" and the "but what about Women's Rights in Afghanistan??!!" angle.

Biden is going to have to fight off a coordinated attack from the Military Industrial Complex and the Media.  When Trump talked of withdrawal, there were suddenly American troops getting 'bounty gated' by Russian operatives and stories about how we need to stay in Afghanistan to 'send Russian operatives home in body bags' and how Trump knew about it and refused to do anything.  The media eagerly ran with this sh!t story to bolster their Trump is a Russian spy narrative.  And you had so called 'honorable' military leaders lying to Trump about how many soldiers there were in Afghanistan in the first place.  You see how the story seemed to fall off a cliff once the machine knew it wasn't having effect?

Is Biden going to make it to the finish line?  Again...he seems to have honest intentions about this.  Then again, I believe Obama came in with every intention of leaving Afghanistan.  He got pushed around and he fell in line.  Stay tuned.  Watch the machine at work.

20 years.  It's so old its not even news anymore.  People are so tired and accustom to it that it seems they don't even care or see the significance of this.

Tim,

That is certainly a major aspect of it.  Although I was thinking more than in social media likes, karma, responses, and any other "reward" favor those with extreme rather than moderate views.    Look at our own football message board.   You are far more likely to get lots of likes and responses if you post a strongly worded post saying "Daniel Jones is the worst QB in NFL history"  than you would a thoughtful and balanced take that says, you have real concerns that Daniel Jones might never become an NFL caliber starter but I appreciate that there were circumstances beyond his control that hurt his situation and I am not certain that he is a bust.    The more extreme view is will "win out" in most social media environments while more moderate and restrained views tend not to get much interest.

Worse social media has splintered and divided so that people tend to gather in like-minded groups that become echo chambers that amplify the extremist views to the point that they become the accepted norm in that group.

To push that football board reflecting society, I would point to BBI.   At BBI there is a sizeable part of their posters that love the "insiders".   If you want attention at BBI say you have insider information and suddenly you have people wanting to hear what you have to say.   Most of the insider information is simply guesses or putting together the hints from various reports from the true insiders.   It wasn't hard to see from that dynamic that another fake insider, QAnon, could pull off something similar on political websites, especially as this anonymous insider was telling people what they wanted to hear.

Unfortunately, while I can identify the problems and how the problems were created, I am at a loss as to how to fix said problems.  As I have said before human nature makes us highly prone to manipulation and over the years there are those who are getting better and better and exploiting the sort of issues I have identified.  It's sort of funny though.  I am a bit of a history buff.  One of the things I have concluded from my observations of history is that people don't change much over the centuries.   In the olden days, a village could get riled up and take to torches and pitchforks to engage in a little mob "justice".   Interestingly enough hundreds of years later using technology those villagers would have thought witchcraft, the same pitchforks and torches mob justice crowds can still be summoned.

That like button has become a way of anonymously piling on your opponent.  When someone has mud stomped your @$$, the like button is a convenient way for others to get their shot in.  It's also a way of designating who the popular members are informing others who you are supposed to respect and who is open season for trashing.

There's comfort in anonymity. Plus, admitting one's true feelings from behind a keyboard in a worldwide public forum not only attracts other likeminded individuals, it emboldens them to come out of the shadows as well.

The majority of these extreme "thinkers" would hardly be bold enough to say the same sh*t in a bar or other public place that they say online.

I mean, can you imagine a 40-year-old man walking up on a group of pre-teen girls on a playground and saying, "Hi, my name is Becky. I'm new here - can I hang out with you guys?" Reminds me of one of Dave Chappelle's skits, "What if the Internet was a real place."  =)) =))

Tim, who are you to decide what gender a 40 yr old male is?

=)) =)) =))

QuoteAnyone who assaults an employee enforcing the use of masks can now be prosecuted as aggravated battery in Illinois.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker passed a law last week that adds a penalty for assaulting a worker who's "conveying public health guidance" -- that is, telling patrons of a business to wear a mask or maintain social distancing. In Illinois, aggravated battery is usually a felony.
The law went into effect immediately.

"This provision sends the message that it's vitally important for workers to be both respected and protected while serving on the front lines," the governor's office said in a statement on the new law.

Speaking of Chicago.  Things are going well in the Windy City in the last couple days.

This riot seems to be purely for shopping purposes as the rioters appear to have shown up with bags and U-Hauls.  Yep...just a good ol' spontaneuous "Free $hit" riot.

You are quite selective in what you choose to "see".  Bob has his NY Time thread attacking liberals and you just posted a thread from another anti-liberal liberal.  You don't need to see it, you actively participate in the smearing of liberals so you say "what do expect they are liberal" rather than deal with an issue based on fact and reason

Sorry you feel that way.   :P

Chalk Talk / Re: Double A gap pressure
April 02, 2015, 03:38:30 PM
chiller, why does Double A Gap pressure prevent shotgun?  It seems if you are bringing that pressure directly up the gut on either side of the center, you'd want some distance from Center for your QB.

Does it have something to do with the long snap?  Or is it the positioning of the blocking back?  Or is it the deeper routes one normally associates with the shotgun?

btw, i think this is exactly your scenario.  back and center attempting to block in shotgun formation....only the blitz is run against us.   :D
