The #Giants struggled in the first half versus quick game...At the top of the screen, we see slant/flat contact as the nickel works over the top of the original No. 1 WR

Mesh-point brings the LB toward LOS to create window behind (as well as H-Back from opposite side)...Good quick game concept from AZ

The coaching staff discussed issues with passing routes off from BUNCH vs. DAL...different scenario/alignment, but picks/rubs vs. man early in the season haven't been kind to Big Blue

Yea you can see they were generally doing quick passes, opening up the middle and doing rub/pick plays, like Dallas got Adoree last week.

Just like we needed to switch to quick plays last week. Just surprised it took them so long to adjust. Great comeback, but if we weren't playing the Cards, it may have ended differently.

But it's still early in the season and room to learn & grow as well as gel.

What truly puzzles me is that Kafka and Daboll employ a lot of rub routes themselves.  So one would think the defense has had plenty of opportunities to practice handling picks and rub routes

picks are tough to defend and barely legal

it works in football, and in basketball
you cannot run through someone, you need backside help

Defenses have three counters:

1) Improve techniques to work through the picks

2) Defenders can swap off coverage to eliminate the pick

3) Defenses can employ more zone which is pretty much immune to this issue

And why did the Cards stop doing that? Did we change our defense to stop it, or did the Cards just quit trying?
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I have heard that, eventually, the Giants started playing some zone to counter those deep rub routes.  The person reporting this (former NFL scout David Turner) felt that Wink took to long to make the switch.

Some early on head-scratchers. TBF though, some are unavoidable, yet you should not be getting killed by them on a consistent basis.
