Quote from: MightyGiants on May 24, 2024, 03:43:29 PMThe solid majority of fans on this forum are very knowledgeable.   So I (and I assume @AZGiantFan  ) both see stating the obvious, that throwing well in OTAs does not guarantee success come September, as needless and it feels like it's said just so one can say something negative about the guy (it also feels a bit belittling as I certainly didn't need to be told about the meaning of OTAs).  Maybe I am wrong, and there was another reason it was said.   Maybe there has been just so much arguing and ill-feelings on this subject that there is over-sensitivity.

Rich,
I'm not sure what you are getting at?

Nabers on this team could open WanDale and Hyatt to have explosive plays

Quote from: BluesCruz on May 23, 2024, 04:21:16 PMHe did very well at Syracuse and Illinois.....big time programs
By contrast Jones was a big time loser at small time Duke

Where are we here, in a hall of mirrors?  DeVito is better than the robotic Jones by a country mile

The delta is that Jones is now Mara's very expensive adopted sun

It seems the Giants will let DeVito float and lost to waivers....he will wind up in NE as the next Tom Brady   My prediction

Jones has been touched by the hand of Mara.

Your love affair with Devito is worse than mine with Sills

But that is what makes it fun to be a fan. Staying loyal to what we believe to be true

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 24, 2024, 02:04:05 PMYou DO realize that other people were posting in the thread, and not every comment is addressed at/to you?  No need to get defensive.

I think he was speaking rhetorically. And I also really didn't see anyone being critical but I do notice and like the fact that jones is defended by many no matter what. That isn't a bad thing.

Reminds me of "Billy Martin is tanned and rested"

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 20, 2024, 08:54:49 PMThat's funny, since with better personnel (Thomas and Pugh) they gave up a higher percentage of sacks when he was under center than they did when DJ was under center.

I think it seemed better because he threw it downfield more and made more plays.

Guy showed his colors... "Once a Giant...

I hope he gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage for the rest of his touches by the hand of God career.

Who would you deem our best WW2 Navy Admiral and why? Obviously each had different roles. I'd love to hear if anyone knows any stories about these fine men.

I had fools gold after listening to all the experts after our camp and preseason games last year.

Boy was I wrong!...I will never ever look at preseason the same ever again. It's a waste

Quote from: Ed Vette on May 16, 2024, 09:53:33 PM"He (Nix) had two or three down-the-field throws today. It's almost like watching a good golfer. Sometimes when you watch his game over two years, there's a patience to how he plays. The ball comes out, and—I don't want to use the term 'boring,' that's not the right term, but [he makes] pretty good decisions. With each play, the efficiency of how he's operating, and all of that."

"Former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio is a big baseball fan, and he pulled out a baseball analogy during Drew Lock's rookie training camp to paint a picture of where Lock was at when he was in his first NFL camp coming out of Missouri:

"I don't think he's far along being a ready NFL quarterback as he could have been. That's what I mean when he's got to get ready. He's not a quarterback yet. He's a hard throwing pitcher that doesn't know how to pitch yet, so the faster he gets that the better off he'll be and we'll be."

Meanwhile, early reports out of NE on Drake Maye, are not glowing. He's got a lot of work to do.

Interesting regarding Maye as it pertains to our own scouting dept which wanted to give up the ship for the guy. Obviously it's week one and time will tell. Interesting however

Quote from: kartanoman on May 16, 2024, 03:15:04 PMNFL Films did an hour "A Football Life" episode dedicated to the man. That was more than what I needed to know.

No, I choose, instead, to watch a far more meaningful production from NFL Films. A story that traces back to the foundation of the league and an individual whose legacy helped define the greatness the game in this country, and opened the door to the entire world to love and become passionate as we all have become. It is the story of the man who led the Flagship Franchise of the National Football League from its earliest days, to help shape the league for it to grow and supplant baseball as our national pastime and refine it so its possibilities remain endless. For his life of service to his Football Giants, through good times and bad, his selfless service to the NFL as a steward of its health and growth, his service to our country during World War II, his devotion as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, many times over, he became the patriarch and conscience of the league and all owners, to include Jerry Jones, sat up and paid close attention whenever he spoke. His efforts to broker a deal with Wilson for footballs, which remains the longest contiguous contract in US Sports history, was so impressive the balls were stamped with his nickname, the title of this film in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the New York Football Giants.

No, I will pass on the Jerry Jones miniseries. Instead, I will watch a wholesome documentary with substance, "The Duke!"

Giants 100th Season

Peace!

I'd love to watch the episode about Mr Mara. Does anyone have the link?

Jones is the face of the franchise and he should be on the poster. He's out highest paid player and he's the QB. Someone screwed up with this because it signals Jones May in fact either not be healthy or perhaps they believe he will not be the starter.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 15, 2024, 08:37:50 PMTo be fair I think he was referring to this statement of mine:

SX - all I was trying to convey in this entire thread was nobody said everything was Jones fault. Personally, if you are so interested in research maybe you should go look up the amount of times I said I'm still rooting for him and also the amount of times I said I will be the first on line to admit I was wrong if he balls out. That remains true.

Please I ask you with respect that you try not to put words in my mouth.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 15, 2024, 01:44:35 PMGeez, it's called hyperbole.

Well it is in poor taste to make a completely false statement on a message board where we are continually dissecting words and thoughts and then when called out, the answer is it was simply hyperbole. Had it been stated as such in the beginning (or simply admit a mistake was made) we could have avoided a lot of negative back and forth
