Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants waive RB Brightwell

Riley was trying to win the slot corner job in Pittsburgh. Nada. Played for Army, only 25. Likely special teamer, if at all.. Originally started with the Eagles.

Brightwell did ittle for me.

He's the best option starting out(DJ)...whether that really matters. The honeymoon is long over and is the guy by default paid big bucks.

If it goes south early, Giants have to be worried about his injury settlement, of course.

I'm impressed with DJ's health and recovery so far. If the Giants can't work in a deep passing game with Nabers, it's academic. Another awful season staring in the face.

Daboll's offense has to get chunk plays with the speed at wr.

Dave,

There is no doubt to me the Pats' kicker and the team tanked that game, costing the Giants a potential better pick

As bad as the Jints were last year, they could have beaten the Bills, Jets and Rams with routine efficiency. That's 9 wins in an awful year.

Daboll knows he has to get to 9 wins, or at least 8 wins,or he might be toast

It isn't worse than the Packers or Steelers, anyway. It's the 100th anniversary and it's part of their history. Roll with it.

Not a chance. The rivalries are real with the Commodes, Iggles and Jints. Too much history to tamper with and Jerrah wouldn't think of it. Well Mara made it a point that Dallas stay in the NFC East during realignment.

A healthy Daniel Jones is a big if. He may be shell-shocked already and be a liability regardless. Drew Lock, yes, has the opportunity to impress first. He's kind of a hold-the-fort guy, perhaps passable.

But DJ will get to start if he looks okay in camp. but he has to produce wins asap or will the Giants let him struggle, then get stuck with an injury settlement? Short leash is logical, Also, Lock might be able to exploit
Daboll's offense downfield more effectively.

I like DJ and want him to succeed. He'll get his chance first.

Stay tuned.

The Giants and anticipation last year was a true disconnect. Daboll ran a Club Med Camp, feeling good. They actually believed their OL was at least aquedate and had added impact players in Waller and Campbell, who bombed.

With their OL so porous, so lacking in depth, they never could integrate their new players (Hyatt too) and Jones was shell-shocked almost immediately, played scared and then kayoed.

The opening beat down by the Cowboys was a harbinger of the season.

DJ is not rock bottom, cmon. He regressed terribly last year, but the real question with him now is his health. Can he stay upright is more pressing than his ability.

He's a stand-up guy. Never was a deep threat, but reliable as a possession option. :Giants:

I remember how our best weapons was punter Dave Jennings and the D in the 70s.

You talk about godawful offenses, those mid 70s teams were as bad as you could get. Terrific players Brad Van Pelt and Brian Kelley never got the success they deserved.

Let's Drew the line here, okay? He's insurance in case DJ gets hurt (very possible). I think he has improved from his Denver days..but meh.

The next qb is out there..somewhere..we hope.
