Quote from: sxdxca38 on May 19, 2024, 08:58:43 PMI appreciate very much what you have presented here, however, here is how I am seeing it.

I agree with you that not exercising his 5th year option was the wrong move.

However, giving him a new contract after the way he played in 2022 was definitely the right move.

The issue that I have was not the contract itself, but to me it was the size of the contract. If they were to have re-signed him in the range of around 30 million a year, then I think that is fair, but 40 million was too much.

As for your last statement, I would say it is yet to be determined, but this year we will all get our answer.

I generally agree with this but Jones would not have signed for $30M.  So would the Giants have maybe used the tag there, instead of on Barkely?

Damn, Rich, that's terrible! How did she not see you?  More importanly, how are you feeling today and what do the DRs say?

Quote from: spiderblue43 on May 16, 2024, 02:22:46 PMIt isn't worse than the Packers or Steelers, anyway. It's the 100th anniversary and it's part of their history. Roll with it.

Exactly my first reaction!

Not crazy about Thanksgiving in Dallas.....and I suspect Mrs Gman will not be happy about that, either.

Just feels like they threw a lot of mediocrity at the problem.  And the spotlight on Neal's struggles somewhat obscured the fact that Schmitz had a subpar, disappointing rookie year.  Are we so sure he'll turn the corner?

I loved what I saw in Nubin's film.  Looks like an instinctive ballhawk.  His tape looks every bit like the best Safety in the draft.  Great value at 47.

I applaud Schoen for not panicking and taking one of the lower rated QBs after he couldn't pry Maye from the Pats.  I agree with this post from Mighty:

One thing I heard on a podcast today.  If the Giants drafted a QB just to draft a QB, then you are keeping the team from finding the right QB for the next couple of drafts.

I think JJ would have been DJ all over again - shows just enough to make you believe but never quite gets to the level you're hoping for.  Yes, I know he's "been a winner" - 13 guys from that Michigan team got drafted this weekend.  I think that has a lot to do with the "winning".  I watched a lot of Michigan football this year and never came away from a game thinking JJ was the reason they won.

This will be the toughest game to win.  If the Caps fall behind late, I see the potential for a major brawl.

Quote from: LennG on April 22, 2024, 03:06:14 PMI can still see all those papers swirling around and the glorious feeling we all had.
Believe me you had to live thru those 20 years of just bad football and then achieve this victory. The only thing better at that time was beating the Broncos and winning the SB.

Remember that like yesterday.  The paper swirling, people hugging.....that and 49-3 over the 9ers are my two favorite Giant Stadium memories.  The demolition of the Vikings is up there, too.

I dunno.....I hope we're not whistling past the graveyard with this guy.  His poor first year went under the radar because all our attention was focused on how bad our RT was.  Just as we assumed (hoped) Neal would make a year 2 jump, we're in the same position with Schmitz.  I'm very worried he's not what we hoped for and even more worried that due to his high draft pedigree, we'll stick with him longer than we should.

When I first saw this, i said, where the hell were the Giants? But then I see he's got four years and 75 mil left on his contract......and he's already 30. Just as glad he's going elsewhere.

What scares me about that scouting report on Maye: leaves too many throws on the field, won't pull the trigger. Sounds a lot like DJ.  BUT.....if the Giants have the same read and he's there at 6, it will take some beeeeeg balls to pass on him.

Feels like we're just throwing a lot of mediocracy at the situation.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on March 16, 2024, 08:29:10 AMBaby Papa and Charlie Weis had a conversation about the Giants this week on NFL Radio.

They were discussing offseason rumors in general.  Weis was trying to make a point about people and their predictions and how they could know what they claim to know.

Weis asked Papa if head heard any info about the Giants draft intentions (or general other offseason moves) noting that Papa is about as close to the Giants as any beat reporter or other media people.

And Papa said absolutely not, the organization is as tight lipped as any regime he can remember.

Off topic here but Charlie Weiss is absolutely the worst listen on Sirius NFL Radio.  Talks a lot, says nothing.
