Good move. We aren't drafting Oline in the draft now. No more excuses Daniel.
Two brand new guards. Just gonna keep throwing stuff at the OL until something sticks I guess.

Has played both guard and tackle. He's posted a pff grade above 68.5 the past two years at tackle but his grade was much lower at guard. Unless they have plans to move Neal to guard he most likely replaces Peart as the swing tackle.

Did they sign him to be a back-up?

I've made several threads about this man what I like about him he played for the Raiders. He has a history of playing right tackle. He also could play guard and he used to play with the Raiders who now we have their offensive line coach. I think it's a great move.
Looks like a solid move. I'd like to see him platoon at RG RT in preseason. May the best man win

No, typically teams don't offer backups the first day of free agency. The real question then becomes where does he start. He's a better tackle than Neal right now but they may not be ready to write him off just yet.
This move is good. It's gonna put heat on Neil's ass. Our young rookie could learn from him.

Neal could be pushed inside with this signing

I have a feeling they're mentally done with Neal as a starter, or at least heading in that direction.

I'm happy with this signing. $7mm per for a guy who can play OT at a respectable enough level is a great price. Moreover I like that our new OL coach is the guy who seemed to get the best out of this player.

If we are to believe that today's two OL signings are starters, then 4 i
Of 5 positions seem accounted for.
Hopefully the new additions along with the new coach form some level of competence.

I wonder if they resign Ben Bredeson and Phillips. Somewhere out of those seven there's a starting Lineup and solid backups for each position. As long as they are healthy it should be a significant improvement.

I think we can safely assume Runyan is definitely a starter. He has to be. He's the best guard we have. That may not be saying much, but it's enough to ensure he's a starter.
Eleumenor I don't know. As of right now it seems like it's at least 50/50 he could be our starting RT. We have to see what happens in the draft and what they plan on doing with Neal, but he definitely has a good shot.
I am probably still in the minority , but I think we should draft Alt and look for a WR in the second round even though we now only have 1 second round pick.
I like that idea Dave. I would still like to have another stud tackle to bookend Thomas and on a rookie contract too!

There's just no way you can draft someone as high as #6 and then change their position. LT and RT are not interchangeable.

you definitely are. no team has used more 1st and 2nd round picks on Oline in last 8 years than Giants.. where has that gotten us?
Take or trade up for QB and at worst take WR

i do it all the time in madden no big deal (jokes)
Zero confidence in Neal doing anything but eating and staying clueless. Hello!

Would Gates be less money than Brederson?...he does have C experience

Remember , Alt came to Notre Dame as a tight end not a tackle. You win games in the trenches especially the OL

Gates did poorly at Washington.

Gates did poorly here too; he was incredibly overrated and anyone could predict his release from Wash. He's a below-average C/G, who generates zero push in the run game and is routinely pushed in the backfield on pass rush. He's decent at using his body to generate good angles but is physically limited. I'd rather take a chance on a mid-round draft pick.

madB: Don't have time to investigate this, but consider who played on either side of him while he was at guard. Bob
P.S. The London branch of this forum is pumped to have our London boy (exiled to NJ in his teens) on the OL helping fix it! Expect him to force Neal inside.
I remember that Dallas had both Neal and Thibs as their top 2 players on their board. I wonder how good Neal would be if Dallas got him?

It's Neal's job to change their mind.
Guess Daboll hasn't scared off quality veterans after all.

I am very excited to see this kid ply and root hard for him. Statements like that are refreshing.

Me too. With the ranking of "best moves" in free agency, he's the only player the Giants got that received an "A"...of course, Burns was not a FA so he wasn't included in the grading. Lock got an A-, the rest got a "B"
My question is, "is he going to play RG or compete with Neal for RT?" He can play either and is classified as a swing tackle. It will be interesting to see how Bricillo uses him. From a physical description, it would seem odd to have Neal as a RG as he much bigger than Eluemunor. Regardless, I don't think it means the Giants won't draft another OL
Watching the tape Eluemunor manhandled dudes in pass pro and run blocking.
:D
I love this guy! They are fixing the damn offensive line!!! PLEASE make it stick this time!!! :notworthy:
Now bring a kid or two in from the draft to make it complete and it will be time to get to work.
Plucking the O-line coach and one of his linemen from the Raiders will hopefully pan into a good decision and set the tone for the new-look line for 2024.
Hope springs' eternal.
Peace!
