I voted "I'll believe it when I see it."

Defense could be hot garbage this year or much better. I still have Bill Sheridan hangover.

Offensive line could be no better than last year. Too many variables to make a prediction.

Daniel Jones might do well to play in 9 games this year, and I don't think he will be running away from anyone now.

Life after Barkley? Who knows?

I'm almost willing to say "as Evan Neal goes, so goes the offense."

Quote from: PSUBeirut on April 29, 2024, 12:52:29 PMYes, my bad.  I had both him and Montgomery on my fantasy team last year so they sometimes jumble in my head!  =))

Well in another thread I mentioned that I hadn't had less confidence in an offensive backfield since we had Joe Montgomery.

Quote from: Trench on April 29, 2024, 12:50:38 PMI would argue he did not do it all. For instance:

1. He was not a good blocker

2. He had trouble picking up the 1st down in short yardage situations

3. He had a lot of dropped passes

4. Many games were actually mediocre less that one monster gain

No sure why this "bad blocker" lable stuck. Wasn't he one of the best for the past two seasons?

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 29, 2024, 12:21:25 PMThe problem with an all-in-one RB is what happens when they get hurt (which Barkley did frequently).

That's really only a problem when all of the backups stink.

Quote from: PSUBeirut on April 29, 2024, 12:32:09 PMRB by committee is a myth in the NFL, by the way.  Rarely do RBs come close to splitting carries- there is always a bellcow.  I'm assuming Montgomery will be ours and we'll see where the other dudes fill in sporadically.

Assume you mean Singletary?

Quote from: TDToomer on April 29, 2024, 11:58:59 AMWere you bothered by the Cruz salsa dance? I'm sure it happened during a loss or deficit.

Cruz is a fantastic example of a guy that knew when to eschew the salsa dance, such as in this example around 4:30.

Quote from: TDToomer on April 29, 2024, 11:48:58 AMI can't believe we area already going there. I care about production and winning. Nabors seems like a good kid. I love how he customized the inside of his suit jacket with pictures of his mentors.

As long as he isn't another Toney.

As long as he understands that you don't TD dance when your team is down by four scores and you don't weaponize the media to call out your teammates and coaching staff it won't be an issue with anyone.

I also liked the jacket.

To be honest, right now I have less confidence in Jones' ability to stay healthy than I do in his ability to move the football.

Quote from: TDToomer on April 29, 2024, 11:28:04 AMBut all those other 4th-7th round rookies on other teams can? If so then we are obviously drafting the wrong type of running backs.

Don't know man. But to your point I've ripped the team with respect to their drafting of running backs pretty vocally.

From the highlight reels Nabers reminds me of Sterling Sharpe

I know I've been pretty harsh on Jones and Eric Gray recently, but for the record I'm going to be 100% supportive of both once the season starts.

The one thing we really don't know about Jones is how much his teammates genuinely believe in his leadership and trust his ability to win games.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 29, 2024, 10:03:09 AMI think Corbin was our best back last season in the preseason and because of Barkley we haven't been able to even see what we have in alternatives.

He looked hungry. We need that.

Quote from: TDToomer on April 29, 2024, 09:08:08 AMI just want to see Tracy get playing time. I am sick and tired of us drafting and burying our rookie RBs on the depth chart while day 3 rookies play right away all over the NFL. I wanted a day 2 RB thinking it would provide a better chance to contribute right away.

I completely agree with you. I'd wager the reason we don't get to see these young explosive guys as much as we'd like is simply because they haven't shown the coaches enough with respect to pass protection/blitz pickup. I'd have to think the number 2 tailback spot is wide open.

He was impressive in his interview. --Smart, polite, gave the "right" answers, team first guy.
