Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on April 26, 2024, 08:18:17 AMThe only possible explanation would be if the Cousins rehab is not coming along as expected. Otherwise, a real head scratcher  ~X(

I see your point, but then why the hell would you give that guy $100 million guaranteed?

Rich,

I was surprised by some of the reaction here.  I wanted Odunze but think very highly Nabers ability, just hope the attitude stuff is overblown.

I think Nabers along with a better OL will cause a significant improvement in the passing game.  Not sure I see top 10 though.

Outside of the Penix pick I dont know if I see any really crazy selections.  There are some that were a little surprising to see in the 1st round, but even those picks I thought made sense and they were guys that I thought would go in round 2.

Guess they didnt have McCarthy or the other QBs left rated as high as the media or some fans.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Where does this leave Slayton?

I think some of it depends how much Hyatt shows.

Slayton has had one of the best yards/rec in the NFL every year while playing for one of the worst passing offenses.   There is always targets available for those types.

Is the deepest before a defensive player is picked?

If they don't trade Penix, that is one of the strangest picks I can remember.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: College Transfer Portal

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 25, 2024, 04:16:51 PMThen there are guys like Tyler Baron who's started for ED for Tennessee who entered the portal to get a bag, and committed and enrolled at Ole Miss in January then backed out at the final moment and went to Louisville. Now two months later he's back in the portal and headed back to Ole Miss for some reason and he'll likely be a 3rd round pick next year with question marks.

I am sure there are guys who use it for the wrong reasons.  Just don't think that every transfer means the guy has a character issue.

I don't think entering the portal has much to do with "character" and the idea that player "a" didnt want to compete with player "b" could be true but there are plenty of other reasons to transfer as well.

For example if a QB is the 2nd best QB in the nation but the best QB is the one playing in front of him, I don't blame him for leaving one bit.  Sitting on the bench  gives these guys no chance to impress scouts.  I would actually wonder about "character" more if the a guy is content to be a backup rather than go somewhere he could start.

Thanks for sharing this annually.

Interesting to see TE Wiley in the 3rd round.

Was thinking Odunze in the 1st and Wiley in the 4th would do a lot to change the dynamic in the Red Zone.

Yes WR salaries will continue to go up.  I think that's why the Chiefs and Packers traded away all-pro guys a couple of years ago.

Jared Wiley intrigues me.  I think he has the tools to be a red zone threat.  He has had limited opportunities in the passing game which increased when he transferred to TCU.  1 of every 6 catches was a TD. For the last two years at TCU that's 12 TDs on 71 receptions.

Heard an interview where he took responsibility for his lack of success earlier.  Mentioned that his maturity was low st Texas.

Blocking isn't bad either.

I think he is likely an early day 3 pick.

I think this idea is fan fantasy not reality, but Dan is somewhat wrong on this.  It's the last year of his rookie deal.  It's not like Surtain has two or 3 years left on that deal.  I guess there is the 5th year option, but that's not cheap for CBs.
