That dude was NOWHERE on my radar or anyone else's in the 1st round. I just remember watching the draft and the hosts all scrambling to see who he was and they didn't even have a graphic for the guy so all they patched together was a random screen shot with his helmet on from some game film. So embarrassing.
Quote from: ozzie on April 22, 2024, 01:37:45 PMIt's funny you brought this up, Rich. Just yesterday my friend and I were discussing that in the NFL, if you're drafted anywhere in the first 3 rounds, you're expected to contribute almost immediately. If you get drafted into the NHL or MLB, it could be years before the club brings you up to the "Big Squad". You play in their system, get conditioning and coaching and they groom you to be ready for the big leagues. There are exceptions of course, but most draftees are given time to develop.
I don't know how the NBA handles this as I am not a big hoops fan.
Funny how different leagues take different approaches to this.
Quote from: Giant Obsession on April 17, 2024, 06:18:35 PMWHY are we even concerned with dime a dozen WR and way over the hill TE.
THIS is a major reason we have the lack of roster talent. Let Slayton eat up someone elses cap space for average at best (in a good year) production.
Waller.....c'mom....please.
Quote from: nb587 on March 13, 2024, 07:13:59 PMI think a few college football issues might affect the NFL and not just NIL. With the big tv money going to the colleges, I think the NCAA will be lucky to be in existence in a few years. The big time colleges will create a super conference and I can see them not taking a back seat to the NFL on scheduling and other matters. They may want to be a feeder league to the pros; they may end up forcing the league to pay way more for the kids to go pro (as if the colleges are not pros now). Also, there was a recent ruling that allows college athletes to unionize. That will become a big deal
Quote from: Philosophers on March 13, 2024, 12:41:45 AMDoubt it. Archie made $2 million in his career.
Quote from: Philosophers on March 12, 2024, 07:36:34 PMI remember reading that Marvin Harrison Jr said he had considered staying for another year to try to win a national championship. A reason he cited was that his NIL money was pretty good.
Quote from: londonblue on March 12, 2024, 06:26:43 AMIt is threads like this that make me wish we had an ignore button. Obstreperous opinion oft repeated becomes no more convincing.
Let us see where we are when camp starts. The roster today is not the roster tomorrow, let alone then.
