He's gonna need to figure it out. I'm hopeful he will make the same kind of jump Thomas did.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on January 22, 2023, 09:04:11 AMDisappointed that we didn't put on a better show for the country last night, but still proud of this team. A few positives that I can come up with

1) Wink and Kafka go into job interviews after putting on a terrible show for the whole world to see. I have to believe some of the luster faded on them for head coach material after last night...knock on wood. Had we whipped Philly like a rented mule on both sides of the ball, our two coordinators would be hot(ter) prospects. Hopefully they are both back with the Giants next year

2) No serious injuries (torn ACL's, broken bones, etc.) requiring off-season surgery (that I know of)

3) Any doubts about zeroing in on the team's weaknesses and concerns, were circled, underlined, and highlighted, being made crystal clear last night before we go into free agency and the draft

4) Although the team walked off the field with their heads hung low, they gave us a super year, and they should know how much their fans appreciate everything they've done this year

Stay positive...we are on the right track and we knew the team was overachieving and compiled of rookies and low-cost fill-ins. As far as I'm concerned, we did the impossible this year and can feel good about the direction the Giants are heading
Well said jolly

I think Laf and kakko are both fine players but I think the fans frustration is they expect a crosby or lemieux type player which these 2 are not. Lafs misfortune is being on a team that has 2 LW like Kreider and panerin in front of him. Kakko has gotten better by leaps and bounds and is playing on the top 2 lines but his problem is he still kowtows to the vets instead of unleashing that 108mph shot of his. Have to keep remembering these kids are 21 years old and they'll be there. As for the team it's off to a disappointing start leaving points on the table against teams you can't and in a division you can't if you want to be around for the playoffs. If this upcoming 4 game road  trip goes bad drury is gonna need to make some kind of move to shake things up. I wish in the meantime gallant, who I'm not a big fan of with his offensive and defensive strategies needs to ride Igor more than he has who thrives on more work and the team needs him to be out there more. On a side note our minor league stud Othmann was suspended for 2 games from what I read was intentionally shooting a puck at the other teams bench. Sounds like a lack of maturity for sure and maybe more as his junior team, of which he was the captain has traded him to another junior team. Bears watching as I was hoping he would be up with the big club when junior season ends in the spring.

Kakko will be fine. He has been hurt a lot and unlike a lot of top draft choices who play first line minutes and PP right away coming to a veteran team with established stars didn't allow that.Laf and kakko will both have big years this year. Also, kakko is still 21!

A different group on the ice for the rangers. Game was competitive with bruins scoring in OT FOR THE 3-2 win. As things change new season some things stay the same. Ranger gets high stocked behind net drawing blood with no call and the obligatory immediate bruins goal.I'm always amazed with 4 officials how no one can see a high stick that draws blood. That being said fox had a nice goal off the rush and Laf took a hard shot off his lower leg towards the end of the game. Limped off and didn't play again thru the OT. Hopefully nothing serious with him. Kravtsov feeling his way around out there and will take a bit to see what we have or don't have with him.

Rose hill,
Get yourself an Amazon fire stick and you can get the games on that

I watched the game Dave along with the giants and Yankees. My living room setup has 3 65" TV's side by side and 47" inch baby on the side of that. Rangers looked in mid season form. Best player on the ice was Miller who was flying and looks like he put on some muscle. Kreids reestablished his from net presence and Othmann played really well.......too well to be sent back to juniors but with the age rule he can't play in ahl yet and rangers are overloaded at LW. Igor looked good also. The rangers will be one of the best teams in hockey and will have a shot at the cup especially if Igor stays healthy and not too many injuries to the skaters.

After last years statement from Mara about accountability and its playoffs or bust after the last couple of horrible years if he doesn't change both the coach and GM he will have lost a lot of credibility in my eyes and I suspect most giant fans. This team is a disaster with a severe lack of personal and a coach that has lost his fastball blowing games earlier with his clock management and personnel decisions and yesterday watching OBJ implode and seemingly not understanding what was going on if his postgame comments are to be believed. I don't. I think he simply didn't want a confrontation with his star player and when that happens its time for you to go as the inmates are running the asylum.

Am I the only one who thinks 13 mill for Brett Gardner is a bit pricey?
