Thanks Terry and Brent.   That was quite interesting.   Got a question for you guys.   Is there any organized effort to bring MLB back to Montreal??   And if so and they were successful would they still play in Olympic Stadium or would they be looking at a new baseball stadium?   We never get any info about the situation in Montreal and it interests me.

With the start of the baseball season upon us I thought it would be a good time to post this again.   It is probably my favorite baseball song.  I never get tired of it.

Got my first look at Tanaka on Sunday against Atlanta.    I know it is still a long way from pitching a spring training game to the real thing.   But so far this kid looks like everything he was billed to be.    We'll see.

I'm going to give this a bump for now.   Depending on the interest shown I will either leave it on this board for a little longer or move to the baseball board.   So far I am encouraged by interest shown in the Yankee and Mets threads.   I hope it continues.

It sure is going to be strange when the entire core four are gone.   DJ is one of those rare players that had both the talent and class.    A good friend of mine is a huge Red Sox fan and of course just hates anything Yankees.   But he told me he will never say a bad word about Jeter.    I hope he plays another 5 years as long is he is healthy and satisfied with his level of play.   He would never just hang around.   He will know when the time is right.

I remember Travis from the minors.    I saw him play in Jamestown when he was with the Williamsport Crosscutters and in Erie when he played on the Eastern League champion New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  He was pretty good.     I hope he makes it big with the Mets.

Hope Rich doesn't mind but for those interested here is part II.

Also my compliments to BBH for their great Giant pic's from the 50's and 60's.    I really enjoy them.

BBH Baseball Board / Re: OK Yankee fans What do ya think

I was sorry/surprised that Phil Hughes never fulfilled the promice so many thought he had coming up.   I saw him pitch with Trenton in Erie against the Tigers farm team Seawolves.   And he was amazing.  He went 6 innings and just dominated.  He was throwing between 65 and 95 mph on the gun and had fantastic control.  His breaking ball was like rolling off a table and always around the strike zone.  I thought the Yankees had their next truly great pitcher in him.   And at times he did look like the pitcher I thought he would be.   Just not on a consistant basis.

Anyway I wish him the best.

BBH Baseball Board / Yanks to retire Torre's number 6
December 12, 2013, 03:13:29 AM
It's not official yet.   But Cashman said that the Yankees will, at some time in the future retire former manager Joe Torre's number.   In my opinion well deserved.   He came a long way from "Clueless Joe" to Mr. Torre.
