Quote from: LennG on May 16, 2024, 12:31:56 PMOver the past few years, my wife and I watch any number of shows about 'how America' was built, how Foods built America, how cars built America, Mega companies built America and now a new series has premiered, How Disney Built Ameria. There are probably others along the way, but we are facianted by some of these shows which tell us how certain companies got started, how certain name brand foods got started and built up a mass market etc. etc.

So on to Disney. As a child we grew up with Disney, we watched Mickey, we watched the Mickey Mouse Club. we had those stupid 'ears' and we also made the trek to Disneyworld (Florida). We still love the 'older' animated movies where Disney just had something special.

anyway, this new series How Disney Made America

 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32230356/

is very good. It really goes into detail about how he started his studio, what he had to go thru to get the first animated movie Snow White onto the screen now he has just completed Disneyland, and how he got the financing to make this happen. If anyone enjoys ser ies like these, it is an excellent watch.

I've been watching this series. It's very good. Walt was a genius and could see what he thought he could do, and he proved the doubters wrong time and again. I found it amazing that his brother Roy was always negative but in the end always ending up being a great help.

I started out with a couple of firesticks. Then switched to a couple of rokus. I liked the roku a little better. One feature of the roku was having a remote on my phone that allowed me to use my ear buds so I was the only person who could hear it. That was nice early morning when I am the only one awake.

Now I only use my smart Samsung TV for my streaming services and the superbox for movies and a few other things.

CC will make millions in endorsement deals. Let's not cry too much that the WNBA salary is not massive. If the league starts to make money those salaries will also go up.

I heard Bill Belichick talk about this today. He said the Patriots would bring in up to 12 at once. Split them by position to see how they interact and it also frees up staff so they can spend time working on other things.

I'm no where near you earthquake folks and happy to hear everyone is safe and sound. However we got a snowstorm on Thursday that knocked out our power at 6am Thursday and I sit here on Saturday still without power. Running a generator so we are quite comfortable but no kitchen stove no washer no dryer no wifi. Could be Monday before power is restored. Life is good!

I saw Roger Miller at the airman's club at Rhein Main AB Germany.  He was so drunk he fell of the stool he was sitting on.

When Brian Wilson was in high school he turned in a music composition and he was given an F for the assignment. That composition turned into the song "Surfin" which became the first single hit for the Beach Boys earning millions. In 2018 the high school principal authorized a grade change to a A on that assignment.

I only do 4 or 5 of those. One thing I have never done is the air b&b thing. If it's just my wife and I then I'll book a hotel. In fact we are flying to Charleston SC today and staying in a hotel for a week. I might try a vacation rental if the whole family was going.

The schedule for a season in The Big3 league is 10 games. They play on Saturdays.  Each week the games are played in a different city. A couple of years ago they paid the players 10k a game so a player could earn 100k for the season.

Ice Cube offered Caitlin Clark 5 million to play a 10 game season.
